The Dollhouse / Re: Barbie, arrived it has! (PIC HEAVY)
« on: March 05, 2020, 03:08:27 PM »
Wow, these look gorgeous! I've never heard of them, so thanks for sharing the pictures! I love the fact that a toy line so much considered to be a girly one like Barbie releases SW-themed dolls. It can never be emphasized enough that SW is for girls too ^^

My favourite is R2, I just love the colour scheme and the head mold (which is a rare thing - I'm really not into Barbie as a doll line, and I basically never find the dolls appealing). I'm eager to see out of box pictures of her (so far I haven't really found any). I'm trying to look at her high price point as a good thing, as it keeps me from purchasing her, but if she was available around here and went on a sale, I'd probably be in trouble.

Want! I love her coordinated, minimalist colour scheme and the colours themselves, and the pose is also cute.

Off Topic / Re: What made you smile today?
« on: March 04, 2020, 01:08:17 PM »
A co-worker of mine greeted me with a smile in the morning, tellling me that she's had a dream with me in it last night, and in her dream I saved her.
She dreamt that she left this company and moved back to another one she previously worked at. She hated both the job and the colleagues, and she was terribly depressed and sad about being back here, not even understanding why she went back. Then, out of the blue, I appeared in the office, and she came up to me - it turned out I teach there part time (yes, I do have a teacher's degree, but neither our current job, nor the job she dreamed of moving back to, have anything to do with teaching :D ) besides my main job, and when she told me how wretched she feels there, I told her "ah, we were expecting that you will change your mind. You still have your place waiting for you back there, come, I'll bring you back" - and we left the awful workplace together, and she woke up super happy. Seeing how happy she was about the dream made me super happy too, and these little things reassure me in that I am doing my job as a team leader well (I haven't been in the position for half a year, and I am constantly unsure about whether I am good enough. She isn't my direct report - there are 4 team leaders in my unit, each with a handful of direct reports - but I like to be approachable and generally available to anyone who might need help).

New wave, post-punk, dark ambient, dark-electro (but not techno or goa) synthpop, neofolk, goth (but not goth metal), some post-rock and some older "sad" metal for me. With the occasional random out of the genre favourite ^^

Have her - she's the one single SS I ever owned so far! I got her in a lovely trade here a few years ago :)

I'm sorry you are going through hard times hun... I hope things will get better soon!

I wish I had more (worthy) pony pics available right now, but I don't... I still thought you might like this one of these two girls giving each other a loving nose boop ^.^ They arrived to me as part of a lovely trade, and looking at these pics always makes me remember how happy I felt when they arrived ^^

Sigs & Site Support / Re: How do you post Pictures?
« on: February 08, 2020, 02:02:13 AM »
So which upload sites is everybody using these days?

I usually upload to DeviantART's Stash

I do this too! Super convenient if you already have a dA account :)
Ah, I never thought of DA - and I'm also struggling with what to use ever since PhotoBucket did its thing :really: How does that work? I mean, will the pictures show up in your gallery like your art, or is there a way to distinguish? The pictures I'd need some storage site for are usually ones which I don't consider art at all (like... quick brag photos, or my avatar and signature pictures here. The latter is not even taken/made by me), I wouldn't want my DA account to show that as the art I created.

Oooohh. Thank you for your input!

Is your skin sensitive? I want to avoid scented products.
You're welcome! :) My skin is not sensitive in the way people usually use skin sensitivity as a term, but since acne and the similar stuff is also a type of sensitivity, I completely avoid products that are scented or contain alcohol. Neither of the above contain fragrance (artificial or natural), nor do they contain alcohol. That's an important thing, I should have mentioned it before :)

First things first: I have about zero experience with foundations or primers.

BUT.

My skin is so oily that if I don't have anything on it, if I wash my face in the morning, by early afternoon the oil it produces is so much that it gets into my mouth and eyes, causing the latter to sting and hurt. So I do have experience with products that mattify massively, because I defintely need that.

My skin is prone to acne and blackheads, which is the initial reason I started to use products that caused sensitivity to the sun - meaning I had to start using SPF on a daily basis. As I was to wear it every single day, I had to look for a product that actually does the job. I've been using the below listed products for years, and all of them do a great job at keeping my face matte throughout the day. 3 out of these are tinted physical sunscreens, which might not be enough for you to ditch foundation (they are enough for me, which is why I don't use foundation, just these and spot concealers), but (as I heard from others) you can definitely use foundation on top in case you require better coverage.

- Paula's Choice Resist Super Light Wrinkle Defense - this has been THE SPF/day cream for me for YEARS. I only switched recently because I found a cheaper alternative which works just as well, and is rather on the yellowish tint-side (which suits my skin tone better. This one is more on the pinkish side)
- Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen Face SPF50 (this is the alternative I've been using for about a year now. It works almost exactly like the PC Resist, it just doesn't hurt my wallet as much)
- Coola Mineral Face Organic Matte Untinted Sunscreen Lotion - another love I've been using for years. The thing is, the above two are both too dark for me on their own, so I need to mix them with another product which is untinted. I've tried it on its own too, and it works well (not as mattifying as the PC Resist, but still gets me through the day fine), it just requires a bit more working in and letting dry - and I like the bit of coverage the tinted ones add.
- Coola Mineral Face Organic Matte Tinted Sunscreen Lotion - basically the untinted couple of the one above. This one has a lighter tint which is a nice match to my skin, and once dry it mattifies just as fine&throughout the day, but I didn't rebuy it because it takes a little too long for me to dry (15-20 mins)

Both Coolas have changed in looks recently, I honestly hope the content stayed the same. As I'm from overseas, I don't know where/whether you could actually buy these in stores, but since all of them are US-produced, hopefully it will be easier for you to get them than it is for me :)

Fell free to PM me in case you'd like to know further details about any of these, or about my skincare routine for my oily skin :)

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Furbies
« on: February 04, 2020, 02:35:05 PM »
Massive Furby lover and collector here! They are my other main love besides ponies, and the number of furballs I share my home with is 3-digit
(I wish I had a pic, it's been on my to-do list for years, but they are all over in different places of the flat, and the thought of bringing them together always seems too difficult)

As for customising, I have mixed feelings about it... On one hand, I did see wonderful customs (haven't actually done any myself yet). On the other hand, the customising bug seems to be spreading, and I am starting to see rarer versions and MIB Furbs being customised too. Gen 1 Furbies are now over 20 years old, and since they are electronic, I suspect a lot more of them have ended up in landfills, having been thrown out once they stopped working, than ponies. So I'm starting to worry a little about the rarer Furbs becoming harder and harder to find. I know this topic is sensitive in the pony collecting community too, and I don't want to open a can of worms here, you haven't made the thread with that purpose :) I am not against customising Furbs, and I do have plans of trying it out myself (I've had an idea and a Furb for about 10 years now, but never got around...), however, I really wish/hope customisers will become a bit more conscious and start applying more thought before they chuck a Furb in good condition/with a rare fur pattern, and, just like with ponies, rather aim to obtain bait Furbies (fur condition-wise) for this purpose.

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Re: Pokemon Go -- who wants to be friends?
« on: January 29, 2020, 01:39:38 PM »
I'm the same Haruna - except I've felt this for some time now :P I only ever really played with games that contain the first two gens (or rather up to Johto), so all the rest (apart from a few exceptions that I got to know from here and there, accidentally) are new to me. I've kinda got used to walking around unknown Pokémon for now  Many times I don't mind, but I do have to admit that most of the newer Pokémon don't appeal to me as much - I don't know if it's more due to the lack of familiarity and nostalgy, or because they really are different. Some of them don't even make much sense to me. Like, take Foongus, with its pokéball-patterned hat - why would a creature appear in nature that resembles something that humans invented to catch such creatures?
(yes, I wondered the same about Voltorb back then, but at least that doesn't have all the same pattern)

I'm also finding the distance recording buggy... I don't have adventure sync turned on, but when I walk while playing, I get much less kilometres than what I'm actually travelling... and I'm getting more and more certain the game doesn't record the distance walked/travelled while in catching or battling (Team Rocket) mode, nor does it seem to record any travel time spent travelling faster than at walking speed. For example, I usually play the game in the morning, on my way to work (which is a trip of approximately 5 kilometres via public transport), yet I hardly ever walk 5 kilometres according to the "report" on Monday mornings. The only explanation I see for this (other than it not recording "faster than walking" travel time at all) is that the trip is full of pokéstops, and when I'm not madly spinning, I'm catching something. I rarely spend time just walking and doing nothing else - which is, I think, the only thing it would actually record. Oh well, it is what it is...

I didn't have a chance to participate in the Piplup Community Day, but I also caught a few shinies recently, the weirdest being shiny Alolan Vulpix (hatched). I say weird because it doesn't look any different from the non-shiny version. I have to look at them *really* hard to tell them apart, and then too I think I only see the difference because I want to see it. I haven't even noticed it's a shiny until I was browsing my Pokémon storage and noticed the shiny icon there :lookround:
