Customs / Re: Hair Question
« on: May 10, 2018, 09:45:49 PM »
Retrodolls' manufacturer is not the same as ours. Our manufacturer is the one who supplies Hasbro and Mattel, and Dollyhair has an exclusivity agreement with them as far as retail sales go.

I'm sorry if I haven't been as accessible as I'd like to be... single mother, two kids (ages 6 and 20 months), sometimes life throws curve balls at you and you barely have time to breathe. Other times, life goes more smoothly and you have time to get to everything that needs your attention. These past couple of weeks have been particularly stressful and busy. Doing my best to lessen the load. And my baby daughter wasn't allowing me to get anything done, so I had to scramble while she took her naps. But lately, as she's a bit older now, she's allowing me to do more.

We'll have envy arriving tomorrow, along with a bunch of other colors! Huge shipment is coming. I'll be editing the site tonight, and then tomorrow, we have a lot of unpacking to do. After that, the new colors will be available for ordering! My goal is for that to happen tomorrow afternoon. Sorry it'S been out for so long, and thank you for being so patient. It's a matter of available space - often, we just need to wait until there's less of certain other colors that we have a lot of, and then there's space for more. Manufacturers have huge minimum order requirements, so we're literally floor-to-ceiling with doll hair :)

Hi, Aednatia! Sorry to hear about your color issue. It's not an issue of a bad batch - the manufacturer does sometimes have a very slight color variation between production lots, but I haven't noticed anything like that with the new atomic turquoise shipment, which we've been distributing since October 2014. It is possible that we sent you the wrong color and wrote "atomic turquoise" on the bag (I caught my old assistant making this mistake a couple of times), so please email me and give me your mailing address again, and I'll send you a free hank of atomic turquoise, just to make sure that you received the correct color. -Tina

Customs / New Dollyhair.com color-naming contest!
« on: October 25, 2014, 12:53:11 PM »
Hello, everyone!

First of all, please let me apologize in advance to the mods if this thread is not in the correct category. It didn't seem appropriate to put it in the "custom sales" category, so I wasn't quite sure where it belonged. Please feel free to move it.

Anyway, you may already have heard that Dollyhair is receiving a new shipment of nylon hair! And even better, it's supposed to be arriving this week!

I need help naming one of our new colors. We've done this type of contest a bunch of times in the past, so you may already be familiar with it. But here's how it works:

First of all, please look at the color:visitors can't see pics , please register or login
It's a pink that's similar to "pussycat," but not as orangey. This new pink is essentially a lighter, non-matte version of "tea rose."

So, please reply to this thread with your suggestion for the new name of this color. The first ten replies will be put into a poll, whereby people will vote for the best color name. Whoever wins the poll (whoever suggests the best name for this color) will be the winner!

The winner will receive one free MLP hank of each of our new colors! That's 14 free hanks, because we're receiving 14 colors in all! Five of them are BRAND NEW, Seven of them are currently listed as "sold out," and two of them are on the verge of selling out.

Without any further rambling from me, please make your suggestion for a color name! Thank you so much for participating!

Customs / Re: NEW Dollyhair Trade Thread!

Ok since I cant order from Dolly hair because 2Checkout demands credit card info, which I dont got because I dont have credit cards and My little customs are out of the colors I need...I have to ask here for help.

I need full bags of:

Tea Rose
Bobby Blue
Electric Banana
Butter Cookie
and Dusty Rose

I cant really trade but I do have money so I can pay directly!
I hope someone can help.

I'm sorry you encountered problems, but no, 2Checkout doesn't demand credit card info. Dollyhair offers two payment choices (well, actually three if you count the mail-in check/money order option). The two payment choices are "secure credit card" and "paypal and credit card alternatives via 2Checkout."

Originally, "secure credit card" was the only credit card option on Dollyhair. But when I learned how many people preferred to use Paypal, I implemented 2Checkout. 2Checkout allows people to pay with either a credit card or Paypal.

If you have problems during 2Checkout's process, you can always call them, and they'll walk you through everything. Their number is 1.877.294.0273 for US callers, +44 (0) 808 234 0487 for UK callers, and 1.614.921.2450 for other international callers.

Customs / Re: DH Daq Ice color question
« on: December 16, 2013, 03:31:38 PM »
Hey, guys!

I'm surprised to see so much of a variation between the old daiquiri ice and the new! When I receive a new shipment of doll hair, I always do a color comparison with my sample book, and the new daiquiri ice matches it perfectly. Regardless of that, if so many people like the old icy blue color, then it will definitely have to be ordered when I receive the new shipment... hopefully in the next few months. I guess it will be called "old daiquiri ice?" LOL! I can't wait to see the swatch that's on its way to me in the mail. Very curious! -Tina

While I realize that it is very tangled (and much more tangled than our random hanks commonly are)

The random hanks are commenly tangled? Really? That's terrible. You should say that somewhere on this site.

quote]

NO. the random hanks are not commonly tangled. I said that the hank that Littlekirara received is much more tangled than the random hanks commonly are. They are commonly NOT tangled at all. Once in a while, there will be a small tangle here and there.

After doing a cursory reading of all of the posts that have vome in since my reply, I do agree with the majority of the statements that I've read. I apologize to Littlekiara, and I understand why everyone is saying that the hank is unuseable.

Like I said, it looked much more useable to me before it was put in the plastic baggie. I really believe that many of you are perceiving the hair to be much more tangled than it really is, due to it having been scrunched up in the bag.

Once again, it is a RARITY for me to send random hanks that are this tangled. What happened was that I was spinning a spool of golden goddess, and the hair started coming off the spool incorrectly - too many strands were coming off at once. Rather than throw away all of this hair that was, in my opinion, useable to at least a certain extent, I put large amounts of it in the random bags, knowing that some of it would be unsalvageable, but that some of it would be.

As far as the website mentioning that the random hanks could possibly be slightly tangled, I stand corrected. I could have sworn that I'd mentioned that customers may end up with a slight tangle here and there. But you're right - it's nowhere on the page of the site that sells the random hanks. I apologize.

HONESTLY, if one of them does have a slight tangle here or there, it's really so minor that it's not even worth mentioning.

if Littlekirara received six of these tangled golden goddess hanks, then I have to assume that she ordered at least ten random hanks, since you can only order them in groups of five. So she was sent six golden goddess hanks and four hanks in other colors. Miraja says that she got six hanks of the same color, and that doesn't sound random. Well, the colors that people receive are random. It's a matter of what we have in the secondhand bin, and on the day that we shipped Littlekirara's order, that's what was in the bin.

I'll replace all six hanks for Littlekiara. I really feel like this whole thing has been blown out of proportion. But unfortunately, these days, blowout situations have become much more common on the Arena than they once were. I really think that this could have been handled privately. Bottom line, this is a rare situation and I am willing to replace the hair because I want Littlekiara to be happy with her purchase. Does this topic really need to be discussed any further?

Littlekirara, this was one of the random hanks that you received. Random hanks are supposed to contain at least as much hair as a MLP hank or RD hank, and the tangled hank that you received was equivalent to more hair than a MLP hank. While I realize that it is very tangled (and much more tangled than our random hanks commonly are), you really should be able to brush it out and find a good amount of useable hair. Also, this hank looks much more tangled now than it did before it was packaged, so I think the fact that it was so scrunched up in the bag is to blame for that. It looks more tangled than it really is.

The website states that the random hanks may be slightly tangled. Please keep in mind that these are secondhand hanks, and they have many imperfections. While I didn't think that the hank is too tangled to you to be able to use at least some of it, I do admit that it's more tangled than any of the random hanks usually are. Please email me at [email protected] with your mailing address, and I'll send a replacement random hank to you.

As far as that 4g hank that you're mentioning, did it have a "free gift" sticker on it? if not, then it could actually have been an extra random hank that was sent to you accidentally. If that's the case, and, therefore, since I don't know what kind of hair it was, the weight is really not an arguable point because different types of hair have different densities. If it did have a "free gift" sticker on it, however, then it was probably a nylon MLP hank if that's what you ordered a lot of in the "normal" part of your order, in which case it should definitely have been around the 15-17 grram mark. All of the nylon MLP hanks, even the ones given away as free gifts, are within that weight range. Therefore, if it did, indeed, weigh only 4 grams, then I have to assume that it was something else.

I don't really understand why this was an issue for a public forum. I would have been happy to rectify the issue with you through email.

Something similar happened to me but my package was damaged in the mail. It got caught up in the rollers and destroyed several of the hanks. Tina got back to me quickly and she did replace them even though it wasn't her fault and she wasn't really obligated to do so. So, I'd say don't give up on a happy and peaceful resolution. :)

I didn't think about the actual mail rollers at the post. Those things are TERRIBLE about ruining things in flat envelopes... it could be the case for those.

Seconding the fact that it's lame you got 6 hanks of diarrhea brown... (okay, lol it's not that bad, but kinda looks like it since it's all frizzed up!)

Diarrhea brown? LOL, the tangled hank is "golden goddess." It's actually really pretty ;)

I find it suspicious that the recent "half the nylon hank won't dye because it isn't nylon" thread was waved away by Tina. I can't possibly be the only person thinking that was awfully shady. She said she didn't want to raise prices. She also expressed not wanting to give the same amount of nylon for the current price (hence the lesser hanks). But nah. It's a manufacturing error ;)

I don't understand what's suspicious, and I don't understand what you mean by saying "waved away by Tina." I addressed everything in a previous thread, and I also told customers to contact me if they received any undyeable "virgin snow" hair, and that I would replace it at no charge. What more could I have done? What is shady about the fact that my manufacturer accidentally slipped in a polypropylene spool with my box of "virgin snow" hair? I doubt it was intentional on the part of the manufacturer, and I guess I should have tested it to make sure that it was, indeed, nylon, but after all of these years, why would I even have any reason to doubt the manufacturer? It was just an error, and due to the color, I'm sure it was a pretty easy error to make.

So what is shady? Me not wanting to raise prices? Me "not wanting to give the same amount of nylon for the current price (hence the lesser hanks)?" I don't even know what you're talking about there. The hanks were SUPPOSED to weigh 11 grams. Once I found out that my assistant had been sending people hanks that weighed, on average, 16 grams, I then raised the weight of the hanks to 16 grams without raising prices. So really, I'm totally confused by your statements. Are you implying that I intentionally sent customerss polyprropylene hair instead of nylon hair? Are you inferring that the manufacturer's price for polypropylene is lower than the price for nylon? It is, but the difference in cost is so miniscule that it wouldn't even make a difference. So if you're implying that even though I didn't have any white polypropylene in stock, I placed an order for it so that I could secretly replace your normal coffee with Folger's Crystals, then you're totally wrong. Totally.

..Isn't it a bit unfair to charge customer for *your* fees? Merchant fees are your responsibility to pay, not your customers, and by tacking on that fee, you've pretty much just increased your prices backhandedly.

I've never ever had a processing fee from anyone I've bought from that couldn't take paypal.

Let me quote myself: "As far as the processing fee that is applied on all Dollyhair orders, it's imposed by my merchant accounts. I wish there was something that could be done about it, but there isn't."

I'm telling you that it's not imposed by me, and that there's nothing that I can do about it. So I don't understand why you would assume that I'm charging customers for my fees. It's the merchant's fees; not mine.
