Interesting factory error/detail
« on: February 02, 2022, 10:29:53 AM »
Last night I was giving some ponies a spa day, I got to Spring Breeze who had a few little paint splotches here and there. I used a magic eraser and they came off very easily. However I noticed these little lines near her scalp

They wouldn't come off with magic eraser and are the same color as the hair they're next to. I'm pretty sure they were probably guidelines for when the hair was being put in. I do find it very strange because no other pony in my collection of any gen has these lines, at least not that I've noticed!

Yes, pony hair guidelines! I believe I've found a few G1s who have this trait too; they're very cool to find! It just reminds you how much handmade effort still goes into the ponies, even if they're from a factory!

I'm assuming the reason most ponies don't have them very apparent is because the holes are usually more aligned! I think its super cool that the guidelines are color coded for each streak!

I have also come across this on some G3 ponies. My Spring Breeze has them, too, though the yellow ones in the back are almost completely covered by the holes. I think the guide lines are only visible if the holes aren't aligned properly like PrincessKittyDragon said, like with the grooves G1 ponies had as hair guidelines.

My Wishawhirl G3 pony has hair guidelines too! Blue to match her hair. I think one of her root holes wasn't properly punched either.
