Off Topic / Re: How does your SO react to your collections?
« on: January 17, 2022, 11:02:03 PM »
My partner is very supportive of my various collections and owns a couple of ponies and dolls himself! He doesn't own as much as I do, but he's overall very supportive <3

He's extra supportive if they're seaponies or mermaids though, he loves mermaids and fish.

Customs / Looking for similar hair texture to that one site...?
« on: January 04, 2022, 01:12:02 AM »
I want to get into doing custom ponies and dolls again, and I know about the situation with d*llyhair.

BUT.

I really liked the texture of their hair. I've tried some other sites, but I've found it to be more...slick? Like, it's dry but is also very soft and makes wonderful straight hair customs.

Buuut... I've done enough customs to want to be picky. I liked how d*llyhair's felt like Hasbro or Mattel's hair.

I won't buy from them ever again, for sure. I just want to know if anyone has used some alternatives.

I'm looking for a red that'll work for an Undyne from Undertale custom, but'll complement the Lagoona-Fire or Fresh-Water Lagoona from Monster High skin tone.

The Dollhouse / Cleaning and identification help, please!
« on: January 09, 2015, 01:19:34 PM »
Long story short, my cousin left behind her stuff that includes her mom's large doll collection. I volunteered to clean them up. Some we know for sure are Madame Alexander, but the others are a mystery. I'm already assuming everything has smoke damage.

Here's an imgur album of them, since the images are quite big.

The one in red I'm assuming, based off of looks, the stamp on her back, and google, is an Ideal Chrissy... She's solid plastic, and the clothes look to be regular baby clothes. She also has some white crust around both eyes.

The one in green...I'm at a loss. She's stamped Alexander on the back of her head, and has eyes that remind me of 20s-30s animation style. Otherwise, porcelain head and hands with a stuffed body.

Both have matted, sticky hair that I'm assuming is from smoke.

How do I clean these dolls without harming their features, or how can I at least get out the smell first???

I have a soft spot for prototypes and error ponies, so when I saw this girl, I bought her!

She came in today and well...

She's smaller than your regular fashion-sized pony (Rarilestia was the only non-pegasus I had to compare), but uses the same pose and eye-shape as the huge Chinese New Year Pinkie! Her hooves are marked 2010, but she has the eye-shines from the Crystal Empire line. Her hair colors are all the right ones, but she only has three on her mane instead of the usual four, she's missing orange.

Pony Corral / Looking to make a G1 alicorn out of two regular G1s.
« on: January 07, 2014, 11:48:08 AM »
Which ponies would be compatible? Like, which two could I put together to do this without having to resort to clay edits, just dye?

Someone gave me the idea of doing a set of the G4 mane 6 as G1 ponies and I'd really like to try it. :drunk:

Pony Corral / Re: I got my first error!

Somewhere out there there will be a Fluttershy with 2 left arms :P

LOL - very cute find!

I think the arm position depends on how it was put in, like how a Monster High CAM shoulder can go either way. Either way, I love her  :lovey:

How in the world did that happen?! You would think the someone would have noticed this. Congrats on your first error!

Well, in the box her backwards arm was holding the megaphone up so you couldn't see it at first! :drunk:

Ooh, that looks gruesome! I don't know if I'd return it, but I'd probably return it.

Nah, I want her to have a nice home with me.

Pony Corral / I got my first error!

I'm sorry if this is better suited for the dollhouse since it's Equestria Girls.

I got the pep-rally Equestria Girls set because Luna, and the Fluttershy came with two right arms.

Pony Corral / Re: What did you think of MLP as a kid?
« on: November 19, 2013, 02:46:37 PM »
I remember being 3~ish in the 90s and seeing MLP on TV at the daycare I went to. I was also really enamored with my cousin's G2 Morning Glory. I remember really liking her backpack with the rainbow ribbons in it.

I've bought lots of G4 Rarity because I use her to make DJ Pon-3.  :art:

As a customizer I'd like more white ponies because that color never comes out right.

I'd also like just more ponies overall after the Mane 6!

But in this poll, the pets~!

I think the Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash bodies are decent and just the right size if you don't mind doing a full body repaint. Or you could be patient and see if they release the rest with articulated bodies.

Eeeh, they're *okay* but they feel like they're really easy to break when you're putting on or taking off the boots.

I looove the Equestria Girls dolls, but I haaate the bodies Hasbro gave them!

What are some other doll lines with bodies that would go well with them? Monster High is close, but the neck leaning forward is going to cause some problems. Not to mention that the EQG heads also have a very small neck plug, but I think that can be fixed?

The Dollhouse / Painting a custom?
« on: March 13, 2013, 04:03:09 PM »
I'm getting a little bored with making custom ponies, so I've been looking into MS girls!

If I were going to make a harpy of the G4 pony Fluttershy, what's the best way to turn her yellow? Would it be painted on acrylic, spray paint? Can I still use acrylic sealer after I paint?

Customs / Re: FS Shining Armor Rehair Questions
« on: January 14, 2013, 03:00:56 AM »
The FS heads are NOT like the usual ponies, and they do not have plugs that you need to cut out. Pull the head to the side to try to get the plug from around the...thing that holds the plug into the body (really loopy from sleep meds, not sure how to word that!), and if you have trouble, soften the plastic in some hot/boiling water.
