Not really customs, but pony costumes and a sculpture
« on: January 23, 2012, 07:18:59 PM »
I wanted to post this before... but I didn't haha.  I'm really liking the idea of making more pony costumes now!  For a pony swap (the newbie swap in November) I made 3 pony costumes for my partner, as well as a tiny pony necklace of Fluttershy.  The pics can be found in my deviantart pony folder.  http://sabathamk.deviantart.com/gallery/34470896#

Here are two pics as a teaser of the folder...

I've got an actual McD bait pony all prepped and ready for customizing... I've never done this before, so I'm looking forward to it... but I have too many ideas... none are very solid... although I'm still thinking I'll make her 'hair' of sculpey and bake her.  I can bake it... right?

Yes you can bake Mcponies, dont leave them in too long or they split. But sculpey cracks if overcooked anyway.  (fell asleep baking... two hours later it was kind of a pony puddle) Well less melting for cracking but still.

Thanks, Sarahlacewing!  I'll have to attempt it then.  I've just attempted a cheaper air dry clay to see how it works, and it's cracking and breaking apart as it dries (I made a mermaid sculpture... poor thing).  I think I just prefer sculpey clay in general.

Apoxie sculpt is a good air dry clay.  I've never had any cracking or pulling away from the pony.  However it's costly. But you can smooth it with water and it sticks to ponies well.  You can sand it or drill into it.  Really amazing stuff. :)

Thank you so much everybody!  I'm thinking of attempting the Gala dresses for the main 6... on the regular sized (not fashion sized as I have none) ponies.  We'll see...

I've heard of apoxie sculpt.  If I can find any in my area, I may purchase it.

Dude dude dude. Those aren't just pony costumes. They're TSUBASA pony costumes! That is just beyond cool. (I cosplay from Tsubasa, myself :P ) Very well done, they look great! Little Fluttershy is cute too :)

Haha... yes, Calico Star.  They are Tsubasa.  My pony swap partner mentioned that she was currently really into that manga, and so I thought it would be neat to find out what sorts of costumes I could make for the ponies.  I did another one for her, although not 'cosplay', just a skirt and leg warmers, but it was fun too.

I should make more pony cosplay.  Maybe I'll do Zelda.  Haha.

Oh, and Calico Star, I'd love to see pics of your cosplay!  I love cosplay!  Only done 2 so far from Zelda (Zelda from TP and Sheik from OoT)... but working on Midna, and hoping to do many more.
