Is there any way to completely remove plastic from the card without damaging it?

Maybe be steam?  But you'd have to be very careful and have a lot of patience!

This is not for ponies, but I like to collect the card art of another toy that comes on cards similar to MOC ponies. What I do is use very sharp scissors to cut along the bottom of the bubble. It leaves a strip of plastic on the card, but at least all the art is intact. :)

If you're talking about a G1 MOC figure, though, since the glue is so old the steam trick might work!

If it's a G1 pony, I appreciate everyone has the right to do as they please with their property, but please consider the dwindling number of MOC ponies already in existence before adding to the loose pony population.

I doubt it unfortunately. The backcards used on earlier generations are not protected from the glue which has been used for their bubbles and even steaming may warp the card or cause the artwork damage. Often glue will degade and simply fail over time if it has been exposed to heat or UV light but you may fade the artwork or the pony if you go that route. Is it perhaps a pony you can track down loose if you wish him or her off the card?

It probably would be easier to brainstorm if we knew what generation or what type of packaging you're trying to work with. :)
