Help! Annoyed by eBay seller... what should I do?
« on: June 10, 2012, 12:13:27 PM »
Last week I bid on a G1 pony lot (all supposedly in very good condition) that contained two ponies I really wanted, So Soft Twilight and So Soft Hippity Hop.  I was excited when I won, but a few days later I received an e-mail from the seller saying they noticed that two of the ponies were quite damaged, one being a unicorn I didn't much care about, and the other being Hippity Hop.  Instead of asking me what I'd like to do, they replaced the two damaged ponies with two others and sent off the package.  They wrote:

I just remember one was pink with pink and blue hair and the other one was white and had fuzz on the exterior.

If you were in my position, what would you do?

Thanks,

~Lochness~

Thank them for trying to remedy the problem, but that it is not an acceptable solution.
You paid for those ponies, not others, and you don't have to settle.
You could ask for a full refund, or a partial depending on if you want to keep the ponies or not.
It's not cool to just swap out ponies like that!
Hope it all works out for you :Hugs:

Hmm. Well, she's clearly sent you another SS pony. I'd ask for details of the damage and explain that one of the damaged ponies was one you bid on the lot for specifically.

Yeah... I would immediately file a "not as described" claim as soon as you can!  You did not pay for a random pony, you paid for the ones in the auction pictures!

If they don't refund you or give you attitude, please share with us who they are so we all can avoid them in the future.  :(

I did send the seller a reply letting them know that I was bidding on the lot specifically for SS Hippity Hop and SS Twilight.  I decided to ask which ponies were chosen to replace them on the off-chance that they would at least make up for no longer having Hippity Hop.  I can't figure out which So Soft pony the seller is referring to since there are several white ones, and am also clueless on the "pink with pink and blue hair" pony.  Any ideas?

Generally speaking, I try not to get all huffy about things like this, but am really quite annoyed that the seller didn't at least contact me first. <<sighs>>

hm... could be brilliant bloom, dazzleglow, princess primose (pink tinsel), stardancer, steamer... those are all I can think of that are pink and have pink and blue hair, but I wouldn't trust her recollection. You'l have to wait and see. Yeesh.

I cant imagine why a seller would do this without checking with you first    You were right to contact her and let her know that you specifically bid for Hippity Hop and Twilight. Did you ask her to send them anyways? I think I would do that personally  :awake:  - thank her for the replacements, but say that you still want the ones you originally bid for , and that you will send the replacements back if need be . If she refuses to send the ponies you bid for, then you know something is off (ie - maybe she sold them to someone else and hoped you would buy her excuse), and you should open a claim ... but the claim is the last resort. Try and get her to work with you first ;)  Also I know its an upsetting and frustrating situation , but keep polite with her , and hopefully things will turn out ok . Let us know how it goes from here

Thanks for checking in. :) Honestly, I'm not sure.  I live in the UK and the seller doesn't ship internationally, so I had them sent to my mom's house.  Unfortunately, she just moved into a new house and hasn't had time to check the box's contents yet.

Well be sure to contact the seller about the issue if the whole thing is a wreck. I mean, if she REALLY wanted to be nice she could have given you the ponies you bid on AND the so called "nicer" ones.

There are two NSS versions as well. :)

I hope you get sorted with the seller!

I'm currently having an even worse problem with another seller that this one is starting to seem like no big deal.  I will contact the seller soon, but I don't want to get into any more eBay debacles.  At this point I'm thinking I'll just keep the replacements and give the seller a gentle heads-up that we pony collectors are serious folk and that it's not a wise idea to replace a pony or two w/o letting the buyer know. ;)

I am really sorry that you have such 'bad luck' on Ebay lately :( I've read the other topic too and indeed a seller cannot give you negative feedback :) so no worries! You are totally in your right, i hope both will be resolved
