Venezuela Ponies?
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:02:41 PM »
I don't know if this has been posted but then again i haven't been on here in a while. Does anyone know what is up with all these spanish ponies MIB? very odd that so many have been popping up on ebay. Has anyone bid on any of them or saved pictures of what has been sold off?

Moving to Nirvana for you :) OL1

From what i read in other threads, could be old warehouse stock or collectors of 80's toys

I think the story goes a little like this:
*cues death metal growl*

Once upon a time, some toy collectors way way down in Venezuela had all those unique MIB ponies around up on their shelves/in their closets/in storage/etc etc but didnt know they had much value, since at the time we didnt know they exsisted, so they werent selling except the few ones floating around passed off as "unknown origin" so there was no market for them.
But when the first comfirmed Venezuela ponies came up on ebay, those lovely Venezuelan people realized their value and thought, "oh hey i can get a lot of money for these thangs!" and then they could use the money to buy a bunch of dr-- *gets slapped by mod* ow!

Anyway,

and thats when they started selling their MIB Venezuelan ponies on ebay, to get money and buy.... eh... stuff.
*voice goes back to normal now*

The end :3

...at least thats my theory, but i think it makes sense.

That sounds like a good theory!

Its weird but I still find the whole concept of MIBs odd...I know nowadays it seems common to buy things and keep them MIB I suppose with all the collectors but I wouldnt of thought it was common in the 80s..maybe Im wrong?! Random thought lol

It is a Warehouse stock, a gal up there found them and a few different sellers were buying them from her  ;) she quit selling them when she found out what was going on, as they were getting them pretty cheap from her. But the sellers were stocking up on them.

I caved in and won a Venne pony myself, actually think i got a decent price for her too! she'll be my first Venne pony so i can not wait to see her in person. Just the idea of having a Venne pony that has never really been known to exist until now is awesome! Even though they are coming up and people are buying them left and right, i rather feed into the crave then kick myself later for not getting them when i had the chance

there has been a gallery in the nirvana gallery marked "unknown" for as long as i have been a member here. all the ponies in that gallery or almost all of them appear to be venuzelan :) so they have been around, we just didn't know where they were from due to the lack of hoof mark or any other sort of information on them.

the fact a lot of them have been showing up MIB reminds me of the greek glut there was in about 2003/2004 when LOADS of MOC greek rainbow ponies appeared on ebay.
