Do you like keeping/collecting ponies in their original package?

how about those of us who will gladly collect used ones  that were indeed used..but also buy and collect MIB/MOC etc but by duplicates to open!!!!

I am not an MOC/MIB/MIP collector, although I do have a few.  Some MIB G3s and two MIP G1s, but only because they were affordable.  I would only get an MOC G1 if it was crazy cheap somewhere (yeah, right) and I thought I could make a buck or two.  In other words, it's never gonna happen. ;-)


I also like the idea of buying more than one so you can open one and sell the other when it becomes vintage.  Overall, at least in terms of my own collection, I prefer a loose pony. 


LOL, I know I've just repeated what many of you have already said... but hey, at least it means a lot of us are on the same page. :-)

Um, well, no, not really but when I was young I kept all the cards and bubbles so if a pony was naughty they used to get recarded   Mum made me get rid of the bubbles though so I have no where to put the bad ponies any more

I have a few of my all time favourites mint on card that I would never open, but other than those few the only MIB MOC girls are the ones that I couldnt find anywhere loose and now feel bad about opening since even the loose ones are hard to come across.

Nah, I wanna play with their hair! Or pick them up and hold them if they're the little molded hair ones. Only recently started collecting ponies though and I can't find much of  a variety here.

MIB makes me think of Men In Black which makes me imagine Men In Black ponies.

well 3/4s of my G3's and G2's are mib would love some G1 mib but cant afford them

I don't actively collect MIB ponies but the ones I do get MIB STAY MIB!! no matter what gen they are. Even the three G4s I bought will be staying MIB. There are way to many loose ponies out there so I will eventually find them loose so why open them. I personally don't understand the 'have to be able to touch them' as a reason to open (especially in regards to G1/G2s) I have never been tempted to open a pony as I've got a ton of loose ones, but only a few MIB ones.

All my G4s are MIB.  I like the idea of getting G2s MOC, but the other gens can come out.

Edit:  Okay, I guess I would be a bit wary of releasing G1s from their boxes because it's rare to find them MIB/MOC...

well, I chose the second option even though I don't have any MOC/MIBS but I would like to get some of my fav ponies that way. As long as I also have them loose, they will be safe from me ^^

No MOC/MIB for me, although I'm so bloody slow at opening new ponies that you'd almost think I was trying to keep my G4s MOC.

I prefer loose ponies, so I guess the simple answer to the question is no, I don't collect MIB. But I rarely open boxes on the off chance that I actually get one (even current G4s I get loose/second hand). When I do have one, though, I just can't bring myself to open it and tend to either keep them in the box or resell them that way. I even had a hard time convincing myself to open my McD Pinkie Pie!

I guess the answer I'd like to give is "no, but I also have no desire to open MIB"

I am an MIB collector for G3 and G4.  Obviously not G1--that would cost way too much!

I was torn between "I can't keep them in the box, so I pass" and "I collect them and take them out of the box" but that's because if I buy them I WILL take them out of the box, no matter how old they are.  I only have one pony that's in the box right now and that's G4 Feathermay.  She's not going to be in the box forever, but I'm waiting until I finish my next custom before I open her.  It's my reward for getting things done.   For the ponies out right now I should probably do what my mom does with dolls and buy one to keep in the box and one to play with.

I prefer to be yes.  I don't only buy moc.  In the cases of G1s I rarely due to money. But if I could afford it it would be 90% moc, and a few loose.  At this stage this is how it is:  G1s I only buy Flutters, candy cane and so softs moc.  I will also snatch up any great deals on moc ponies I don't already have loose.  I currently have around 15 moc ponies.  G2s I don't really actively collect, so the ones I do have are loose.  G3s are about half and half.  I never buy them from people loose, or debox (except once when part of my house flooded and half a dozen of my g3s boxes were ruined - and for the old collectibles that came in boxes you couldn't actually see the pony in), however, I have received a LOT of G3s loose as gifts in swaps and what not, plus I have found a LOT in thrift stores, etc.  So I'd say its about 60/40 moc/loose.  As for G4s, they are all moc so far.
