My eyes aren't even half of what happened, but I'm not getting in to that.

Giving credit is still only applicable if the original artist has given permission for you to take their work and recolor and edit it, so make sure you have permission to do so. As far as I can see the original artist of the ariel pony has not said people are free to alter her artwork.
