Title: Etsy shops shipping to Germany: LUCID Packing Registry?
Post by: pinkkittywinks on May 05, 2022, 12:06:07 PM
Hi Ponies,

A notification popped up in my Etsy shop saying I need to register for LUCID Packing Registry as I ship to Germany and the  packing law comes in to affect in 1st July 2022. I had no idea about this until now

Has anyone else registered?

I was going to ask about this the other day!

I don't have an Etsy shop but I do sell intermittently overseas (not to Germany yet, but I'd hate to exclude an entire country from shipping there). I have no clue if there's a threshold or what. I'd really like to know if this pertains to small/hobbyist sellers. I could see this making a lot of Germans unhappy if most small sellers will just not ship to Germany because of the hassle, especially if they don't make a large volume of sales to Germany.

Update: I worked out my sales to Germany in the last 12 months and found it would be worth my while to register :)

I went with this company: https://activate.reclay.de/activate_germany_english/

It cost be about 8 Euros to register for a year. I used my last 12 months sales (24 sales in total) to Germany as a guideline. I weighed 30 padded paper envelopes, 30 flyers, 30 bags etc and filled in to total. I then registered with Lucid and filled in the licence number I got from Reclay and it is done.

I decided to remove Spain, Portugal and France from my shipping list, it makes me very sad, but it is not worth my while to register and pay for countries I hardly ship to. The flat rate are as follows; France 80 euros flat rate fee, Spain 300 euros flat rate fee and Portugal 150 euros flat rate fee.
