Pony Corral / Pony Con - photos please!
« on: October 22, 2016, 01:58:56 AM »
Good morning all.

I am heading down to Pony Con tomorrow (excited :newpony:).  But I was just thinking of all the lucky ponies who will be there today.

I would love to see photos to give me a taster in preparation for tomorrow and I am sure others will be waiting to see pics too xx

Pony Corral / Re: What do you do with your ponies?
« on: October 22, 2016, 01:54:18 AM »
I was having this discussion with my other half just the other day.

I like cleaning, restoring and displaying mine re arranging them from time to time.

They mostly just sit there looking nice waiting for me to look at them.

Although I do display them they are in my bedroom and I am very private about my collecting, very few people in my life know about it, I think because I am worried that most people just wouldn't understand and I had asked my husband how weird he thought it was.

We eventually came up with this.  Firstly it doesn't matter how weird anyone else thinks it is as long as it makes you happy.(you're not hurting anyone right?).  Secondly ponies or no ponies lots of people collect lots of different things (I saw a guy on the tv the other day who collected bricks, not judging just saying it's different!).

Also just for your information from what I have read the psychology behind collecting anything (apart from it being enjoyable) is supposededly to do with us attempting to create a sense of security and order in our lives. Perhaps this is why your therapist was asking you about your ponies, maybe they weren't actually judging the ponies themselves if that makes sense  :)

Off Topic / Re: Are you a night owl or a morning person?
« on: July 19, 2016, 01:06:14 PM »
I saw a fb meme recently that pretty much sums me up.

I am not an early bird or a night owl I am some kind of permanently exhausted pigeon!

I sleep a lot at night, I hate waking up in the morning AND I also nap during the day

Awww, wishing you all the very best.    Glad to hear you are starting to feel better, here's hoping you are back on the mend, go easy and don't be too hard on yourself, sounds like you've had a LOT to be dealing with. Big hugs xx

You have ponies' decapitated heads, tails and bodies with their pony butts in the air scattered across your kitchen sink drainer drying and ponies wrapped in tin foil "sun bathing" on a semi permanent basis.

Ahhh confetti.  I have the Italy version (currently sun bathing on my windowsill as she has been attacked with pink highlighter) and the UK version.  Her U.S version is a long awaited set completer for me but I can never seem to get my hands on her!

Customs / Re: Has Anyone Had Luck Curling Pony Hair with Curlers?
« on: June 24, 2016, 06:57:42 AM »
I cannot do this if my life depended on it.!!  I gather it's supposed to be relatively simple, I see lots of pictures of ponies with beautiful soft non frizzy curls (like darkhorse's!).  I have tried and tried though and I am just incapable of curling pony hair....mine end up all styled straight :(

I am completely terrified  :yikes: I got a huge shock when seeing the news this morning. Aflame I like you do not like change especially one where there seems to be no plan for the consequences.  I am worried about the £ and the whole economy in general, jobs, house prices the lot.  I live in Scotland and my husband is Greek so I guess it's a huge waiting game for us to see if Scotland will remain in UK and what will happen in terms of his rights to be in this country.  I am also very worried about the xenophobic tone that this whole thing seems to have developed, I don't think that I want to live in a place that is intolerant of other nationalities. :(

As a complete after note (and I know it shouldn't't really be a priority considering all that's happenening ) I am also worried of the impact on the price of my ponies as I feel like even my one small joy and escape is also being attacked!

I am glad to see that others are thinking/feeling the same though (generally I mean not specifically about the ponies!)

Customs / Gluing ponies
« on: June 18, 2016, 01:59:44 AM »
Hi all.

I have a couple of g1 ponies that I rescued that need rehairs.

However they have also head their heads hacked off  :(

Does any one know what kind of glue I should use (I suspect some glues may break down plastic) to glue their heads back on once they have been rehaired?

Thanks

Awww they are adorable!

I crochet too and these look like a nice quick and easy project . My thoughts were that as they are very small  if I was going to do the symbol I would where possible perhaps just sew part of it on one side (like one Apple, one diamond, 1 balloon etc). Saying that I hate the sewing part of any project as it's fiddly and time consuming.

I also think that yes you can definitely still tell who they are without xx   They are just too cute

Pony Corral / Re: How do you organize your collection?
« on: June 17, 2016, 09:27:06 AM »
I have mine organised by year and set.  Then I have my Greeks, Italians and UK exclusives separately.  I have to say though I am running out of room fast and I don't think that this is the best way to maximise space.

My dog's vaccination records!!!!   She is due her vaccinations and I have spent literally hours and a whole lot of wasted energy this week looking high and low and everywhere I can possibly think of with no success.  How do things like this just disappear? Where do they go? It's so frustrating.  My better half says I should just go and get a replacement but then I know that if I do the next day it will show up (cos that's always what happens in these situations too!)

Pony Corral / Re: Hair match for uk baby susie?
« on: June 11, 2016, 03:00:42 PM »
That's some memory!  ;)

I did a second check and I think you may be right. I found that one of speedy's stripes is lemon drop and it looks about right, my Sunshower must be faded.

Thanks for the help x

Yes I thought perhaps lemon drop too but the only thing I had to go on was baby sea horse Sun shower and it looked a little light also. However I suppose it's likely for Sunshowers hair to be lighter from all her swimming!

I don't have a Dj or merriweather to match to.  Did you do a side by side test?
