Congrats, Starscout, on your impending "aunt-hood"! I visited a charity store today & spied a little guitar, I asked to look at it & I offered to tune it up, the staff were so grateful that they brought out another one, so I tuned that up too! Sad to say, they were both of not-so-great quality (the second one was a really pretty half-size guitar, though) so I did not buy. The staff were thrilled, I got to have a little play & the whole experience made everyone smile

I watched that new version of "Persuasion" (based on the Jane Austen novel) on Netflix starring Dakota Johnson...
and you know, what? I really enjoyed it!
Yes, "breaking the wall" was unusual but I thought is was fun to hear Anne Elliot's ramblings and thoughts directly to the audience, it is very much a modern style of movie in that sense, plus all the discussions of her sister "being an empath" and "narcissistic" - language that possibly didn't exist back then, haha!
Good to see diversity in the casting, too.
If you approach it as a movie based on current times & sentiments rather than a pure period piece, just sit back and enjoy the fun moments and side-eye. A thumbs-up from me!

So cute! Just about to hit the hottest day on record here in the UK so your post brought a smile to my face - I yearn to go to the beach!! I may settle on arranging some ponies about my shell collection instead, hehe! Thanks for the inspiration!!

I do like her unusual colouring!
In the past I tried bidding on her (when prices were not mega-crazy, but she still sold for too much beyond my comfort zone) and in the end I customised a very baity, stained Majesty instead, which was fun to do!
I kept the eyes intact, although I do have some chunky, vintage Aurora Borealis Swarovski chatons that would fit perfectly. So the back story is: "this is Mimic before being imprisoned in the mine and before her eyes turned into gems".
I have never seen Mimic IRL so it was a challenge to mix the best-fit colour paint! Painting her parrot symbol was a joy, that rich red against the pastel green was so satisfying!

1) When I moved to our cul-de-sac the friendly new neighbours were welcoming but warned us of a newly-built house at the end that almost never got built due to controversy & concerns over the foundations being too close to an underground culvert...
Anyway, for as long as I can remember, there's always a water utility truck parked there some time during the week & water engineers doing "works"... I still do not know what the "issue" is...
I am used to it now, but when I used to work night shifts and had to sleep during the day - it was impossible!
2) Farmers muck-spreading: so yesterday was he hottest day of the year (so far, in the UK) and I opened the door & took in a deep breath of the morning air only to realise that the farmers had spread fertiliser over their fields & the wind had carried the "delightful" aroma of poop across the miles and through our neighbourhood. Ah, it's that time of year again...

Super hot day today. Brought my kid home from school, settled her down & got a phone call - it was a family friend (an "almost adopted" sister - she was v close to my Mum) she was in town & wondered if I wanted to meet up for coffee - husband works from home so yes, it was a go! Met in the coffee shop & had a good, long chinwag caught up on life since the pandemic & we are now invited for a meal! Hoping that it will happen soon

Bought some cute IKEA Drona boxes for my kid's bedroom - but the cardboard that has been used to make them have that strange "smell"... it's been a few weeks & I can still smell them when I am up close... at least they are near a window so that the fresh air can circulate around them...

I always had a herd from my childhood, but in adult life, I started looking on ebay (back in the ancient past when prices were not so stupid as today!) and looked to get "doubles" of my favourite childhood ponies (mainly to put something cute on my desk at work, without risking my childhood ponies going missing).
Oh, back when Gypsy, Honeycomb, Galaxy, Fizzy et-al were reasonably priced *dreams*
So that's how I decided what ponies to get. Of course, I discovered other ponies that I had never seen before - beautiful Nightglider was a grail for me & I managed to get her - again, before things like shipping costs went crazy. I feel sad that international shipping price-hikes have made collecting far too expensive.

Had a very childish conversation with my kid about amusing cat names. I won't repeat some of the ones I said as they are a bit rude, but we laughed so much! Felt so good afterwards!

Awesome! So cute to see the reaction of the ducks!
I got my Quackers via a workmate in the US a few years ago, before postage costs to the UK became crazy...
