Protecting curly hair in shipping?

I need to ship a pony with ringlets and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to pack her so that her curls don’t get crushed in transit. I’ll actually be shipping 4 ponies in the same box so I can use other ponies to maybe create space for her hair?

What have other people done to protect curls or other elaborate hairdos in shipping?

My preferred method is to emulate factory packaging and use a backcard! Make a couple of holes around the feet, neck and/or back and tie with twist ties or string/ribbon. String or satin ribbon is probably better for fully painted customs but I've used twist ties, too. Put the backcard in a box and firmly attach it to one of the walls so that it won't move during transit. I would probably section off the box to prevent the other ponies from squishing the hair.

This method also works for sculpted customs - make sure there's air around the part you want to protect and that the pony won't move during transit. With sculpted customs the card is usually best placed under the pony's feet, unless the sculpting is mainly on one side.

Agree with Griffin You can use a smaller box, cut out one side and place it over her too after you've attached her to the side. So she'll be in her own space and nothing can squish her.

I personally would wrap her hair in smoothie straws then put tissue around it and tape it shutso there's no creases when the curlers are taken out

I thought about shipping her with the curlers still in, but I like to trim the ends of the hair after I take it out of the curlers, I want to get pictures of her, and I'd like the commissioner to have the least amount of work to do at the other end.
