What a week...

This week has been...interesting...to say the least!

I received a letter on Tuesday saying the council has cut my housing benefit by half as I am in a private rented house. Now this is a new legislation that I knew about, and when I went to the council at the beginning of the year they said emphatically it would NOT affect me because I am disabled. Now unfortunately, they were wrong. So I have spent the past few days running around like an idiot as if I can't pay me rent I can't stay in the house, plus on top of that two of my closest friends split up with huge amounts of drama.
In the UK if you want to apply for social housing you need to be on a list and 'bid' for properties every week. I've been on the list for a while as my current property has stairs which I keep falling down, so I need a bungalow. I received a phonecall yesterday from one of the local housing agencies asking me if I was still interested in a bungalow the other side of town to me, I said yes, had my interview today and went and viewed the property, and as long as my landlady gives good refs (she should do, I've never been late with my rent, damaged anything or been a nuisance) the bungalow is mine!

It's huge compared to my current house, lovely private garden, large bedroom, large front room, and a large storage room which is....


PONY ROOM!!!



I am chuffed to bits, had so much crap and now it's all rosy...

I haven't stopped grinning all day, I'm just so relieved!

AWESOME! Yeah, we kind of have the same thing here called subsidizing for those with special needs, and my sister and I are the list because we are disabled. So, I hope something like that comes up for me in the future when I need it! Man, a pony room....one can dream!
