Title: Want to do a pony Inktober?

Hello! I've been wanting to do the Inktober challenge for a while now, and thought it would be a fun way to improve both my inking skills and how I draw ponies. This would entail drawing a pony or something related to MLP each day and inking it each day of October, then posting it on the Arena. Which pony or thing you draw is decided by you, but you could use the official prompts to come up with a pony. (For example, day 1's prompt is swift. Based on this, you could draw Firefly soaring through the air.) There wouldn't be any harsh rules, for example digital art and OCs would be fine. This challenge would be about improving your pony artwork and sharing it with the community :) Would anyone want to do this with me? Why or why not? Thanks for reading!

Potential rules under the spoiler :) Feel free to suggest some other rules or changes.

Spoiler

1. Make a drawing in ink (or black line art if you're doing this digitally.)
2. The drawing has to focused on a pony or ponies or something related to MLP. For example, you could draw the Rainbow ponies hanging out or a playset or some combs.
3. Try to make a drawing every day. I said try here because it's okay to miss a day if you absolutely have to, but don't miss one on purpose.
4. Post your art here on the Arena! Everyone would love to see your beautiful artwork. But if you aren't comfortable sharing it, thats ok too ;)

Sounds fun! I don't really have a way to scan my traditional art, so I would do mine digitally!

I'm so bad at motivating myself to draw, so I have no idea if I'd make it everyday but its certainly something I'd be interested in trying! I got a big new set of markers so this would probably be a good excuse to use them for something other than coloring books! :P

As much as I would love to I really struggle with the daily challenge drawing events, I just can't produce that quickly!!

I usually have to step out of challenges because I end up stressing over them too much, but I might give it a go. I'm going to try to spend more time drawing this month anyway, so why not some ponies as well! I have to ignore the rules tho, I'm burned out, and if I push myself to draw every day because *this rule says so* I completely lose the will and energy to draw for months on end. So I'm in, loosely? If that makes sense xD hope that's alright ^^'

I'd be interested in giving it a shot! Its been years since I drew ponies and I think this would be a nice way to tackle Inktober.

Thanks everyone! It's fine if you miss some days, or even half the month, it's not as if you decide to participate then you have to draw every single day. Whatever you decide to do is fine :) And October first is nearing, so get ready if you are participating! You can post your art in this thread :)

Wow, nice job! Her expression really matches Rainbow Dash, and you did an awesome job on her tail area :biggrin: I will probably scan my first day today along with my second :)

My roomate asked me a pony inktober. But I'm not as quick as that, so it's one background + one pony for two days... yes it's cheating.

That is soooo beautiful! Your style of hair is gorgeous, and the anatomy is absolutely perfect :biggrin: And holy moly, that waterfall! Glad you are participating :)

Here's my entry for day one, I'm just learning how to use my new ipad with the pencil so this month will be really good practice. This was supposed to be twinkle twirl dancing, but I got lazy with the hair and symbol :P Even though I'm going digital I'm going to try and keep everything as natural as possible by not using eraser tools or undo buttons or anything.

This is a fantastic idea!

I've always wanted to do inktober but haven't been actively drawing in ages. Then again, small, sketchy works like this could be the answer. But we're already a third into the month...


Shaiyeh, I'd love to see your drawings anyway! Perhaps in a separate thread, if this is for ponies only?  :bateyes:

aaaa yet another absolutely amazing one! Minty is one of my fav ponies, both g1 & g3 :lovey: I adore how you did the reflection as g3 Minty :heart:  do you do prints?

I'm thinking to do prints, but I'm actually sure I will sell the original drawings in the end of the month :) And also maybe let people commish me a pony I wouldn't have do.
Your art is amazing too, I love to see it even if it's not a pony :blink:
