Pony Brag Arena / Ooooooo What A Treat!
« on: April 11, 2018, 01:43:40 PM »
I managed to snag this one recently; finally got her all clean. Her hair is a great deal more pink than I was able to get to show in the photo, but I can't resist showing her off just a little bit anyway. Now my Chief and Wigwam have another friend from their year!

So, I got a Silkypup the other day, but I do not really know much about Lady Lovely Locks in general. Silkypup does not have any of the pixietails or other original accessories, but did come with a golden collar that has a glittery purple heart and glittery purple flower on it. She looks to be in pretty excellent condtion herself; bright pink everywhere, no fading, no marks, no flaws in the paint that I can see. She was cleaned today, so I could add some photos at some point tomorrow if it would help. But, I am wondering how popular she is, if she is hard to find at all, what kind of value she holds if I were to try to sell her, things like that. If anyone could answer these questions, I would greatly appreciate it! (And let me know if photos are needed.)

Thank you in advance!

Customs / ✨Rehairing Tool and Information✨
« on: March 26, 2018, 11:59:45 AM »
Hi, all! I'm looking for a bit of help with some things as I'm having a hard time deciding. Customs and restorations are brand new to me, so I'm hoping to expand my knowledge.

First, I have ordered once recently from Dollyhair, and before I searched the internet and found more in-depth reviews. It was a small order, just two skeins (hanks?) of hair, which I really liked. I was able to give my Milky Way a new tail. However, I was not really pleased with the service. I tried to reach out through email and their phone number to see when the order would be shipped; I never received a response. Then I received an automated email about the order being shipped, but my address was printed wrong, and there was no tracking information (it was shipped First Class, and tracking is free, so I don't understand why it wouldn't be included?). I reached out to see if the address could be corrected - no response. My post office figured out what the address was supposed to be, so I got the package fine. But it took 6 days from ordering to be shipped, plus another 3 to get to me. I didn't have a scale at the time, so I'm not even sure if the weights were correct or not.

So, with that being explained, I'm wondering where to look for nylon hair and a decent rehairing tool for G1 ponies.

In addition to the tool, I'm also curious about what needle sizes are good to have for these ponies (adults, babies, newborns, etc.). Is there a way to fashion my own from a pin vise on Amazon and needles from Etsy? Or should I try to get one pre-made specifically for rehairing from a vendor?

I'm also wondering if there's a good alternative to Dollyhair. I like the nylon hair and the variety of choices. I don't know much about other hair types either, that's why I'm trying to stick with nylon. But do other types work just as well or better for restorations?

My Little Customs has been a contender for me, I just haven't ordered yet. I put a few things into the basket to see what the shipping options were, and their cost from the UK to the US without tracking wasn't bad at all. I have read pretty much nothing but good reviews for MLC. I would only ask, one, are the rehairing tool and needles from them suitable for ponies, and two, is the shipping reliable enough to forgo tracking in order to keep the cost down?

I would use Dollyhair again if the quality of the items outweighs the spotty service. But I would prefer not to if I can get the same or better items elsewhere. I've just taken in so much information recently that I don't know how to synthesise it all.

Sorry that this got a little verbose. I wanted to try to cover everything I've been pondering.

Thank you in advance for any information, help, and advice!!

Pony Brag Arena / ✩★✩ My Collection So Far ✩★✩
« on: March 23, 2018, 01:16:02 AM »
So, a while back, when I first joined and made my introduction post, somehow I never saw, or even knew about, all of the replies that I received. They were so nice and welcoming, and I am so sorry that I never replied back or said thank you. But many of them expressed a hope that I would share some or all of my collection, so I decided to make an Instagram dedicated to just that. Feel free to check it out!

Thank you!

Most will be ending between 7 and 8 hours from now (I have most of them timed to end 5 minutes apart to make it easier for those wanting multiples).

Check them out if you're interested! :lovey:

Introductions / Hello from sunny Florida!
« on: September 30, 2017, 11:35:45 AM »
Hi, everyone! I have been collecting off and on for over a decade, and have a relatively modest collection of G1s. They are mainly US releases, but I have several European exclusives as well. I remember playing with my older sister's ponies in the '90s as a kid, then somehow I forgot about them. We only have one left of the original collection, a very sad-looking but sentimentally special Wigwam. Wigwam managed to stay with us all of the way from West Germany where my older sister and I were born (our parents were in the military through the '80s and stationed either in West Germany or California). I found him in a bin one day, but none of the others, and decided to start looking to build back the collection. I collect only G1s, as they are my personal favourites and the most nostalgic to me.
Aside from the ponies, I am currently a student working towards a degree in foreign-language teaching, with emphasis on French. I adore languages and have been studying them, mostly on my own, since I was a teenager. I am a bit rusty with French, but it will not take long to build back my skills, and I consider it a second language. On my own, I enjoy studying Finnish and Swedish when I have the time; they are my absolute favourites.
I look forward to meeting other members here, and thank you!
