Pony Corral / Re: Now that G3's are nearing 20 years old...
« on: March 08, 2019, 08:51:49 PM »
I think rule of thumb for things to be called 'vintage' is that they're at least 20 years old.  But I'm with you on scoffing at G3's being vintage, they're still too new for me.  Or I'm just too old.

Thanks for your kind words!

Did you make the pattern yourself?

Yes and no.  I started out with three different patterns from different people, took what I liked from each and continued to tweek the pattern.  Each plushie I make gets a pattern update to 'fix' things I don't like.

So, I've been trying to finish Sunbeam for a couple of years so far and she's now done!  She's 15" tall, to the tip of her horn.  Overall I really like her.  Her hair is a very soft yarn and I love how it feels.  What do you think?  What should I try to improve for my next plushie, whenever that may be?

Pony Corral / Re: Tales from a Yard Sale - MLP related
« on: September 03, 2018, 03:31:45 PM »
Sorry to hear about your yard sale.  I rarely do yard sales now because ponies are just too hard to come by and I end up wasting a lot of time looking.  That said, I'll take all your G1 Softies off your hands and possibly other ponies, too.  Wish I had known about your sale, I'd have made a point of stopping by.

Off Topic / Re: Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot!! I’m scared!!
« on: July 21, 2018, 02:43:48 PM »
I, too, loved Buffy and I hope they do good with it. With Joss involved there is hope but I think it depends on what they do with it.  I think on my love of Star Trek; when they create a new series with new characters, etc, it works.  Now, the new movies messing around with my beloved Kirk are a different kettle of fish. I like the visuals etc but I hate when they try to redo story lines differently.  I've been known to yell at the screen.

Here's hoping it not just a redo of the old show but more like the reboot of Dr Who.

Those are pretty awesome.  I love the idea.

I'm glad that it got sorted out finally. And I hope you find a better ring in the near future.

I was never a fan of the small figures but I love the 12 inch ones.  I have 5 of the original crew and 2 or 3 of Next Gen (they're boxed up so I don't exactly recall).  The ships are my real love.

I hope this gets sorted out in your favour.  I agree with what others are saying that an everyday ring should be made for everyday wear and not with a fragile design or stone.  What I'm curious about is what's the actual size of the ring?  Did you take it to a jewellery store to have the ring sized?  If you were pretty sure the size should work for you, did she size the ring right when she listed it?  I was sized wrong for a ring once and I know it could just be a mistake but it'd be nice to know for sure.  If you wanted any future ring sizing advice, when I would size a person's finger and they said a size felt good, I'd always have them try on the smaller size to be sure.  I'd keep going until it feels tight.  Also, make sure you're using sizing rings a similar thickness to the band of the ring you're planning to get, it actually makes a difference.  Good luck.

Pony Corral / Re: stupid things sellers do (tell me)
« on: May 30, 2018, 07:30:04 AM »
I bought a lot of ponies of Kijiji where the seller had SS Heart Throb listed separately but pictured with the ponies I was buying.  I asked about Heart Throb as she wasn't with the rest and they explained that they wanted $25 for her and that it was a sale for charity etc etc.  I didn't want to spend the money so I told them not to bother fetching her for me to look at.  They did have to get another bag of ponies that were
missing from the listing.  I checked them over, bought the ponies, all is well, right?

Later that day I get an email demanding (nicely) that I return Heart Throb right away.  Again it was stated that this was a sale for a charity and that she was being sold separately and that there's anothe buyer coming for her.  I politely responded that I hadn't even seen her when picking up the other ponies and that I hoped they find her.  To this day I occasionally wonder if she ever turned up.

The captain jack rank is for Captain Jack Sparrow pony, of PotC, I'm pretty sure!

What?! I thought it was for Captain Jack Harkness.  Isn't everyone into Dr Who? ;)  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Ooh, that's so nice of you to draw ponies for us.

Pony's Name: Majesty
Pony's Gender: Female
Personality: (if you think they'd be playful, moody, clever, timid, etc.) I feel in the mood to see a playful Majesty
Reference: (image link only needed if it's not an official Hasbro pony)

Thanks

I love Moondancer's different versions.  I have French, Italian, and yellow HK.  I really really really want pink haired Argie Moondancer but there are many others out there that I'd love to have.

Christahope, your Moondancers are amazing, I could gaze at them all day long.  :inlove: :dribble: :dropjaw:
