Disney's new face mold
« on: July 15, 2016, 08:07:58 AM »
By now everyone has seen the new mold that was first used on the descendents. What do you think of it? I, personally, am not a fan. The tilted eyes and narrow chins. It suits some characters, but it's a little creepy. Why did they change the dolls so much? Any thoughts?

My daughter hates them! We spotted the Descendants-dolls and got so excited, but when she took one down from the shelf she just said: No thanks, they are not even close to the movie. We where so disappointed.. :pout:

Are you talking about just Descendants or Princess and Frozen too? Because if it is all of them I think they were trying be cartoony so as not to look too much like Barbie. But with the early princesses there was of course a similarity with Barbie as that was the ideal depiction of a woman in that time period.

No thanks, they are not even close to the movie. We where so disappointed.. :pout:

They look more like the characters in the animated shorts. Which to me is actually a good thing because dolls modeled after real people often look awkward.

Since Hasbro started making them their faces just don't look right. Quite frankly they creep me out. The bodies are fine and I love they have Pocahontas and Mulan. I just can't buy anything that looks like them. :(

I don't like Hasbro's facemolds either. The only one that looks pretty to me is the long haired Belle one. I know some people say the new facemolds look more like the animated characters but I don't really see that.

Oh thanks! I will let her know that! We didnt even think about the animated ones. Maybe she changes her mind, it would be great as she is really into the characters! :)
