Most likely because the G4 pony toys are half the size of the G1 and even G3 toys. So the artist is keeping the same sizes. If you aren't familiar with the earlier toys, then it would be an easy mistake to make in getting confused.

I think it is an adorable mash-up! I love RD about to pop that balloon!

As Maniah suggested below, it is because of the toy sizes.
I display them all together and so this is just how I imagine them interacting. :)

That is an adorable drawing, I love the idea of the different gens having fun together.  :lovey:  And I totally picture them smaller than the G1 ponies too, so I liked that you incorporated the size difference!
