Hi, Sheraine! Thanks for sharing, and it's so cool you have 9 guinea pigs!! An old neighbor of mine from college had 2 guinea pigs of her own, and they loved to be held and hand fed--adorable!

Well darn, I had already de-haired her last night when I saw everyone's advice today. Her tail was in really, really bad shape for the end 1/3 or so and my attempts to get all the rust staining out and smoothing didn't get me very far. I figured if she needed a new tail might she might as well have a pretty new mane also but maybe I got carried away and should have left well enough alone. I'll post some pics when she's put back together, hopefully I didn't mess her up too bad.

I can't wait to see your updates! I've been doing some restoration myself for a bit now, and I've learned that everyone has different measurements for what a "successful" restore means. Some of us want to get rid of all of the marks and rehair everything, while some of us are fine with leaving the difficult marks and hairs alone. It all depends on what you, the pony owner, think would make the best restored pony. So, if you like her when she's all put together, you didn't mess her up at all.

I WANT to like the G5s because I think their colors, accessories, and personalities seem really cute! But their flat faces bother me...they have less of a pony snout and more human-like facial proportions 

Hi, I'm Jorden! I use she/her pronouns. I'm 26 years old, from California, USA, and I'm completely obsessed with G1 ponies.

I adored the look of MLPs as a child, but my mom refused to let me have any because the collectability of the little cuties meant that I would just want more, and more, and more! And she wasn't wrong. Now that I'm an adult I've struggled to stop myself from buying more ponies...I unexpectedly ran into a great stock of G1 ponies at a local vintage toy store that had just opened, and there I bought my very first pony, Seashell!!

Now I have a shelf full of G1s. I have some rules that govern my collecting to make sure I don't go too overboard: 1) the ponies have to be pre-owned 2) they have to require some amount of cleaning, even if it's just washing the hair, and 3) I cannot buy more ponies until I'm done cleaning/restoring (to the best of my current ability) the last pony I bought, otherwise I will end up with an overwhelming "stash," just like my partner and his model kits. 

The MLP Arena marks my first time on a forum like this, so I'm super excited to be here! I've been looking for an online community that loves these little beasties as much as I do so we can gush about them together, and also trade some cleaning tips and talk about mystery pony stains.  Nice to meet y'all, and hope to talk to you soon! :^)
