So the storage facility sold the contents of the unit to the highest bidder like in "storage wars"...

ironically, the dude who was doing the video... is on that show.

Lets hope this isn't one of the lockers on the show. The prices stuff is selling for is something that doesn't need to be broadcast on global TV, Youtube and our discussions are enough. (Storage Wars airs over here too, though I don't watch it, so the last thing we need is a TV show worldwide telling everyone PONIES ARE VALUABLE).

I'm going to guess because I feel like they couldn't show that sort of content if it needed to air..The video guy did say it was his friend who won it (so might not be on the show).

That's why he says "you guys say the show is fake" in the beginning.

I saw those storage images on Tumblr a little bit back...what an absolute dream find! How sad that the original owner is no longer with us, though. I'm glad that at least some of these beauties are going to collectors who will care for them well. I myself have bidded on one of those Dream Beauties, oh what a dream to own one in box...

If I ran a show like that, I would 100% make sure that storage locker was on the show.  It's a dramatic, exciting find and I think even people who don't collect MLP would realize that finding a billion MOCs from the 80s is something special.   

Like, the only thing I can think of that would be more exciting would be a treasure chest full of jewels, a lost Picasso, or a couple perfectly preserved classic cars.

Wow. That's quite a lot more than I paid for the ones I have from that set...
I really think that this storage lot is probably not the place for a cheap bargain.

Congrats to anyone who won any. I was watching Misty as she's one of the three I still don't have MIB, just to see what she went for as a guide for when I actually have money - but yeah, that was a fair bit higher than I thought. I have an affinity for this set, but they're so stupidly expensive MIB :/

I do have to say that this thread is amazing. I wish I could of bought one or two of those ponies but I cant aford anything at the moment. :/ The best I have done so far is a MOC surprise and a MIB baby surprise. I wish everyone great luck with these finds.

I dropped in a few cheeky bids on this round of ponies but I didn’t win everything. I think prices seem to be levelling our a bit, although they still seem a bit higher than normal.

It looks like whoever won the MIB Satin and Lace with all of the regrind spots was unhappy as there is one feedback mentioning "several spots of discoloration even though item was sealed"


Even though I can't bid on anything I'm enjoying seeing everything look so perfect MIB/MOC.

Haha, and I'm fairly certain being sealed is what led to there being so many regrind spots! I'm surprised they didn't notice because... it's pretty obvious she has tons of regrind from the images on the auction.

Reality is, just because something is in it's original package, doesn't make it perfect.

I';ve noticed that they've added comments about international shipping that isn't as crazy as the total showing up on the auctions themselves. Which is reassuring.

Yeah, the dream beauties showed me shipping at $71 EACH to Canada. I won two and combined shipping priority was only $40. The shipping calculator is whacked, I’m sure it scared off a ton of people !

As a seller, I can say that people do not read descriptions or looks at photos. I get at least one return a week becasue their pants didn't fit, despite the measurements in the listing.
