Off Topic / International pony fans: favorite holiday stories?
« on: November 11, 2016, 04:08:44 PM »
I'm working on a book of Christmas stories, and I want to see if you have any favorite ones from your country? I'd love the title and author, if possible. Thank you! It might help my research instead of me trolling for "christmas" in endless libraries. :)

I'd try Ebay or the services that advertise on TV during the holidays. Plastic Jungle is one that comes to mind.

We just got a kitten, Flynn Rider and we also have a 3 year old bengal-tabby Belle.

I'd concur with those prices, based on what I've sold on Ebay for the books.

So I was checking this project out again, and I am definitely planning to contact about writing some reviews etc. of representation in geeky media.  :lovey:

That would be awesome!

I'm a professional freelance writer, and I'm a blogger. I'm working on a YA novel off and on, plus some nonfiction ebooks.

Always credit. I report a lot of retail news for a publication, and I'm always saying "so and so broke the news" or "according to.."

Including a link to them could also get them visiting your site. :) It also shows that you're professional and ethical.

1: Being 'on top of the ball'. When something new is happening (first photos of a new toy discovered, new trademarks discovered, etc.), from where is it best to get ahold of photos, info, and the like? Is it poor etiquette to ask permissions of someone who posts a photo to a forum if you may repost it?

Not at all! As long as you offer credit, most people don't mind. You should sign up for google alerts on certain toy companies and also check out their websites for press releases. Instagram is another way to find toy and other pictures - just look for certain keywords of toys you cover.

2: Gaining momentum. How is it most efficient to promote your blog? DO you promote? Or do you let Google searches and the quality of your work earn your traffic?

Content is king. Above all. However, you can do press releases, link exchanges and use social media.

Off Topic / My new project: WhattheFangirl.com
« on: February 18, 2015, 08:02:48 AM »
After dealing with my car and its expensive repairs, my computer giving up and lots of client work, I finally get to announce my new project.

WhattheFangirl.com is a weekly podcast and blog of the best and worst in pop culture from a woman's perspective.  We discuss books, comics, tv, video games and more.

I already have two episodes of the podcast up, and it will be in itunes shortly.

I invite you to check it out! And if you're a webcomic artist, I'd love to interview you and feature you in my Female Creator Friday segment (not a podcast, a blog post series).

These tanks are horrible! They could've marketed them in a new way that didn't involve animals. Like maybe a light-up fish tank scene with plastic fish and greenery that lit up when you squeeze them or something.

My cat did that when she had a UTI, so I went to Target and got a waterproof/spill-proof (good to have for those Coke spills too!) mattress cover. I'd say anticipate paying around $25 for a good heavy duty one. Mine is even washable.

This season, Regina is not my favorite. Oy. I can't believe I'd ever say that, but her storyline is dreck!
