Any collectors in the DFW area?
« on: March 03, 2012, 08:52:37 AM »
I was curious as to who all was in my area...would love to meet more North Texans who still collect MLPs.  I live in a small town called Granbury, about 45 minutes SW of Ft Worth, so kinda in the boonies...worst part is, there are no true thrift stores here, only consignment shops and what not.  I have yet to see a MLP there, and they aren't showing up at garage sales around here...but I still hope to find some one day!  =D

I live in that Area!  I'm about 45 min NE of Dallas (McLendon Chisholm-opposite side of the metroplex).

We have a popular Helping Hands, but I have yet to find ponies there!  Thrift stores are non-existant here too!

See, we have a Boys and Girls club, but they are only open a few days a week, and it's usually when I'm too busy to go.  >.<  But, I want to go and check them out sometime and see if I can find anything.  My cousin is talking about giving me her old ponies, but I have no idea when she will be able to dig them out, lol!

And that's not too bad.  It's far, but not horrible.  =]

Wow! This is awesome. I might be moving to Granbury over the summer, since that's potentially where my internship will be. So I might be there in that area!

I have some family just north of Dallas/Fort Worth.  I'm in the Waco area myself.  I haven't found any good thrift shops here either.  There are 3 Goodwills and several resale shops but none of them carry toys.

Really? What company?  I love it here and I really don't want to leave.

The school district hopefully. I'm interviewing on Monday. I'm working on my graduate degree in school psychology.

Yay for cookies!!  =D  I live about 20 minutes from you, Weeping!  =D

One of these days we need to have a get together, or some such something.  >.>  I'm always up for coffee and conversation!  =]  Or perhaps (whenI get enough I can actually swap) we could do a swap of some kind.  Maybe customizing swaps or something...     :frolic:

My mom is a psychologist.  She's working out in Cleburne right now though, but she would much rather be here in Granbury.  My hubby is working as a substitute for the school district.  He likes it but it's not the best money right now.  Not bad for just starting out though...  Poor guy is working two jobs right now >.<

Mom has always said doing school psychology was a good thing...she liked it while she was doing it, but now she has her little office.  =]  I have to hide my ponies from her...she thinks they would be great play therapy toys cause they are so colorful and fun.  xD

I can't argue that really, I think ponies would be good for play therapy too!

I like what I'm doing, but I'll probably be getting my Ph.D in Animal Behavior or Clinical Psychology, I'm not really a good therapist, which is why School Psychology works well for me.

Seems all the pony people are in the DFW or Houston area. Not many in the Austin area, and the one I do know is maybe moving to the DFW area. XD
