If it wasn't for my family I wouldn't celebrate anything this time of year, but I would still decorate for winter :) With so many neat options these days, it's hard not to want to do something.
I'm still not settled enough in my place to decorate like I'd like to but I do have color changing snowflake lights in my main window. If I ever get a tree, I want a black one :D so I can use it for Halloween and then through the fall and winter. Imagine a black tree with silver ornaments, ooh or gold!
When I was a kid, we'd decorate both inside and out. Some years, our house was the most lit up on the block.
How do you feel about inflatable decorations? I'm not a fan. They usually look bad during the day, all deflated in puddles on the lawn. They're very popular here. Here in Florida, we have some décor you probably can't find most places, like beach sandmen instead of snowmen and flamingoes doing all manner of things, including pulling sleighs. It not uncommon to see an alligator in a Santa hat (do not put a hat on a real alligator, they don't like it).
What about you? How do you decorate for the season?

we don't do much decorating just mainly a tree and a door hanger here my neighbor has an inflatable santa and its amusing cause he's motion activated and when he's blown up he tends to scare the neighbor kids who constantly forget.

I don't know, maybe I will buy something for my room, we'll see.

We haven't put up the tree yet but maybe this weekend? Or today?
I love Christmas decorations but often December creeps up on me. I usually start with lights - I'll wait until Halloween is over to hang the lights on our balcony. This year I wasn't able to do it until last weekend, though... They're less of a Christmas thing and more of a winter thing, however. The lights (as well as our wintery kitchen curtains) can stay until Easter or so. :D
I guess I'm very traditional when it comes to decorations, except that I skip religious themes and stick to animal motifs, snowflakes and such. I think I saw some of the inflatable things at the shop when we went to buy our tree last year. They were pretty horrible. :P Less is more!

i put up a wreath outside. it's one my mom made us years ago. the pumpkins are still out and will stay out until they start to rot because i paid for them and i will get full use out of them :) (i'm slowly turning into my dad and it's disturbing).
we don't really do other outdoor decorations because i'm too clumsy to be out on a ladder putting up lights on the house. and the landscaping isn't grown out to the point where i can put lights in the bushes.
as far as the inside of the house i'm not sure if i'm going to put up the tree. it's fairly warm here right now and i'm not really feeling the christmas spirit yet. my parents aren't coming to visit this year either so if i decorate it will be just for us. I love the christmas tree and all the ornaments but it's a lot of work for 3-4 weeks. i'm burning a candle that has a christmas tree scent to see if it gets me in the mood to decorate.

Not much. I have a tree (needs lights), a couple of garlands in the hallway, & the Festive Cottage. Pretty much it

We’ve been told to decorate. But between school, work and a few injuries (thanks skating rink roads) barely anything is up.
Decorating this house is both a joy and a pain in the neck. We have so much Christmas stuff, and we can never put it up “right”. Looks good when it’s all done though.

Oh, I feel you on this. My mom would always question my decisions. And say things like, "That looks ridiculous!"
Then when my sister moved here she took over the decorating and got told the same thing, so a few years ago, she quit. Then my parents complained of the lack of festiveness. Well. Then you do it :P (they never do)

I would get very into decorating seasonally if I had my own place. This year, we're being somewhat restrictive on lights. My mom always likes to make some sort of decoration-this year it's large snowflakes out of lights. I think they don't feel like decorating much this year, which is fine.

I'm not a Grinch per se, just not a big fan of x-mas. TBH I might be more accepting if the consumerism got toned down and the constant muzak tuned out.
Tree is up and decorated. We keep a string of lights along the ceiling in the livingroom all year long. No outdoor decor this year.
Inflatables are interesting, but not very practical in these parts (snow, feeezing rain, insane sustained wind gusts...).

When I was little, we used to do a lot more, but it's now usually just cards and a tree..there are some bits and pieces on the mantle and tinsel on the newell post and that's it. My sister is the enthusiastic decorator and normally has her own tree in her room as well as one back in Oxford.
When we will be decorating this year will depend largely on her I think.

yes I do we have a tree and some lights and put cards up, ive just finished making resin tree decorations ...
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
I think I went a bit mad with them ^^;

we finally bought the tree and can get started with the decoration now
-
We have a main tree, and I have a mini tree/table for pony ornaments, some year we are gonna get wreaths and garland for the porch.
-
So apparently we're decorating next weekend.
But sister has spent the whole afternoon decorating her room, christmas music blaring. I guess she's making up for missing last year xD.
-
I don't know if I will put up my tree this year, but I'll definitely put up a few other decorations like my front door wreath, stocking, etc. I do have an advent calendar out already. Hmm...maybe I could put a string of lights on my porch...
BC, I'm not a huge fan of the inflatables either. Some look good, some look really weird to me. I definitely hear you on the lawn puddles thing XD

I, err, made another Festive Pony, because some of my Ponies didn't have their celebration in...
-
As a kid, our decorations were only a xmas tree, but my husband and i like to have lights up in our windows now, too, and a wreath on our door.
-
Still haven't had a chance to put the tree up... Stupid work schedules >_<

I love when others go all out decorating their houses and yards. There were many years where we didn’t or couldn’t decorate much and it became a Christmas Eve tradition to drive around to see other peoples house lit up. This is our first Christmas in our new house and we wanted to make it festive but kept it fairly low key. A string of colored lights across the roofline, icicle lights across the porch, and a wreath on the gable.
Inside we have a tinsel tree with shatterproof ornaments (new kitten), a wreath above the fireplace and garland on the mantle. I’ve got a collection of Christmas pins I put on a red velvet ribbon a few years ago and that is hanging next to a doorway. There’s a door hanger with bells I got as a gift once. We also got a couple holiday scented candles. :xmas:

That sounds lovely, Flitter!
We would love to have decorations on our back porch but the HOA of the apartments says that we can't have outdoor decorations, and if live trees are visible from a window they have to be taken down by January 1st. *eyeroll* We have an artificial tree and leave it up until February just to spite them lol.
-
That sucks, Twizel. HOAs are dumb.

My mom decorates every year
