I am in the process of having a whole herd of deflocks. I am a terrible procrastinator, though. So far, I have completed the 8 pegasi, started on 3 of the 5 unicorns, finished 1 of the earth ponies, and started on 4 of the remaining 8.

I love them because their colors are just so much brighter with the flocking gone, and even under the utmost care, the flocking rarely stands up to the test of time.

I never thought I would like SS but I got my first one the other day and I love her dearly...She is missing some of her flocking but she's sooooo soooooooft.... *snuggles*  I was going to deflock her but now I can't bring myself to do it.

OMG *drools over deflocked ponies* I've never seen Twilight deflocked before! She's beautiful :)

I absolutely prefer them deflocked. Had two SS when I was little and never liked the flocking. The only exceptions for me is Scrumptious and Bangles. I think they look quite nice flocked, but they also look great deflocked as well!

*really wants a deflocked Paradise now*

I deflock bad ones, but I try not to if they are so easy to find in a non-ss versiion. I have a nasty SS Sundance but regular non-flocked Sundance is so easy to find I don't want to deflock the ss one. I also wouldn't deflock a ss Gusty as it would make her too close to the super common non-flocked Gusty.

I prefer SS ponies flocked but I don't really mind them deflocked, a lot of them look really pretty with no flocking andsomeevenbetterallnonfuzzy. Looking at those pics of deflocked ponies makes me want to get Twilight, the purple is so pretty

I'd never deflock myself (way too scared to ruin the pony andIliketopetthem...haha) but I'd definitely buy a naked SS one  :)

I adore lovely fuzzy So Softs :inlove:... but they're really beautiful deflocked too! hathorcat, yours are simply gorgeous!

I think it's a great solution for ones with sad flocking. My Wind Whistler has major flocking loss and I think she'd be so much nicer deflocked. I'm scared to try it, though!  >_<

I think deflocks look about a million times better than they do with their flocking.  Their colours are so vibrant, and its all hidden under their yucky fur.  However, I don't own any.  I like ponies in my collection how they were supposed to be.  If I complete my moc so-soft collection, I will start getting deflocks.  :)

I loooooove deflocks, I prefer them visually to SS ponies -- Paradise is one of my favorite ponies of all of 'em. I've sold off all my SS because I always feel terrified I'm going to damage the flocking. :( So my SS are now in homes that they can be properly loved. But the deflocks... just gorgeous. I really need to complete my set. And it's nice that there's a way to give new life to damaged SS ponies.

I love Ribbon Twist Twilight and Paradise but I'm afraid to buy any of them. I think I posted this in another thread about how I was afraid to get stuck with a really nasty so soft pony. I would have no idea how to deadlock one and I would probably mess it up somehow.

For those of you afraid of messing up a deflock, just buy a really baity one for cheap and practice. That way if you do mess up, you aren't out a whole lot of money or a rare pony. I used my childhood Truly for practice because the poor thing was so covered in pony cancer that there was really no saving her.

Yep, I agree totally! I've only deflocked those that are rubbed really bad, or have a double or triple of that are common.  :)

I love ss ponies!  I'm very picky when it comes to adding them to my herd.  I like them to be as mint as possible.  That said, I also love the bright colors when they're deflocked.  I think as long as the pony has major flocking loss, or major stains, they need a second life as a deflocked pony.

hathorcat, you are a champ - starting off with the pegasi! Those wings are just awful to work on! I get discouraged, so I have like 5 SS's who are half or only partially deflocked!

It seems that I'm satisfied once I unearth their symbols and their eyes!

@hathorcat and mlp4me:  Your deflocked so-softs are just gorgeous!  Beautiful jobs, and totally inspiring.  ^.^

As an aside, I mostly finished my very first deflock tonight, of an old Truly I found at the thrift shop.  The edges of her hooves were all bare, and bare patches on her face too, and she had tail washer rust showing through... since I already have her in fair condition so-soft, I figured I'd give it a shot.  Hot, hot water, oxiclean, and a whole lot of scrubbing did for most of her flocking.  The rust came right out, and maybe another go with the same treatment tomorrow night after my hands and nails have recovered... she's gonna look fab!   Hope I can find my camera to share the results...
