Title: What do you like other than ponies?

Hey folks! We're all here for a common reason, but I wanted to check in and see if I had anything in common with anyone here.   :rainbow:

Some of my loves include board games, anime, photography, and martial arts.

I love anime, Disney, puzzles, dolls, manga and reading. I know I’m forgetting a lot of things. :lol:

My loves are reading, writing, folk music, video games, stop-motion animation, learning about the history of my local area and trekking in the countryside. :)

My biggest hobby outside of ponies is probably my pets. I just love animals like hamsters and mice. I also enjoy reading, musicals, Disney, and horseback riding.

I like deep-diving into various fanbases, consuming all of the fanworks for one or two ships and then moving on.  :P
I also like thrifting, Neopets, cross-stitch and embroidery, plush making, mending/restoring clothing and toys, math, transitional seasons, Animal Crossing, and being outside.

My other hobbies aside from collecting stuff are video games, horror movies and death metal. I'm also into nature, science, and art.

Mostly Anime, reading, Resin crafting (basically I make keychains/charms of my favorite characters for myself) and stationary supplies like gel pens/notebooks and washi tape that I use mostly for card making and photographing all the weird stuff I see in China.

Antiquarian books, Romanian history, songs written by Jim Steinman, anything Oscar Wilde related, foreign languages, researching family history, and toy-collecting (as well as ponies, I also have collections of Ty Beanie Babies, Monster High and a few other random things. I especially like restoring old toys and researching their history). I am also a massive fan of The Worst Witch (the 90s CITV show and the original books) and the musical Tanz der Vampire. I have a lifelong fascination with witchcraft (in fiction, but also the role it has played in history, religion etc) and also a fondness for vampires, werewolves and anything Goth (Monster High was basically made for me!). Oh, and I love cats: I love watching all the strange things my cats get up to, reading up about cat behaviour, finding out what makes them tick and how to make them happy.

Been playing Pokemon Shield quite a bit.  I found a new toy line I love, Crystal Creatures.   Even though I haven't made one in a while, I also enjoy the Metal Earth models.  The peacock model is my current favorite!

Hope to go back and finish pokemon ultra moon.  But my wrists won't hardly allow it.  I got a grip for my switch lite, due to beginning symptoms of carpal tunnel.   Now I  am fine on it, but my 2ds xl is another story.  :/  It will be slow going,  if at all on that one.

In terms of other collectibles, in addition to ponies, I also collect Care Bears, Furby, Barbie, Monster High, Ever After High, Shopkins, LOL OMG, Sanrio merchandise, Animaniacs merchandise, anime/game figures, and music (mostly CD with some vinyl on the side), and random toys that catch my attention that I don't have the space to buy as many as (Novi Stars, Na Na Na Surprise, Capsule Chix...).

Outside of collecting, I like gaming, mostly on Nintendo systems, but a bit of PC as well, not much as I use a laptop that isn't made for gaming. Watching TV shows, mostly animated ones.... listening to music (obviously given I collect music), most progressive rock and progressive metal but other stuff as well. I also like cooking though I need to do it more often, some day I'd like for my career to be cooking and/or baking so I really should be practicing more than I am currently. :)

I read, mainly fantasy and crime novels but a lot of different things has been read through the years. I play videogames, computer games, watch a lot of movies, anime (even if I haven't been activly watching for a number of years now), I paint, cross stitch, write, craft etc. I do a little bit of everything. But reading is the main-thing.

I am still officially in mourning at the loss of Nathaniel last November. It may seem crazy but Nathaniel (Nat) was a Madagascan Dragon Tree I rescued from my library when it closed and he was about ten or fifteen years old then. He lived with us happily for eight years but last November old age finally caught up with him and he died. Having had him for so long and with him being a memento of my library, it was a bit like losing a pet.

(The name came from the library, when my boss and I were trying to find homes for all the plants, we gave them all names and made an adoption leaflet, but nobody wanted Nat and so he ended up coming home with me)

My biggest regret is that I never took a proper photograph of him when he was at his best.

I am surprised a thread like this has not really popped up before now. 

I feel like many of my interests are on hold at the moment, things that I really enjoy doing but just do not have the money, space, or time to do the last few years. 

Scrapbooking (hold)

Reading: mainly paranormal romances especially involving vampires and werewolves-favorite authors include Amanda Ashley, Jeaniene Frost, and Keri Arthur, and historical romances-favorite author is Catherine Coulter

horseback riding (hold) and horses in general-my horse will be 31 this year.  We have not been riding in a few years now due to my back issues and her lameness issues but she is otherwise in really good health.  Sadly, I have not been able to spend much time with her like I would like

small animals (hold)-I want mice again but my husband won't let me get any.  I would not mind a rabbit but my daughter is young and we currently have 2 cats that would make that difficult at the moment

Freshwater aquariums (hold)-don't have any currently but really want to get back into this.  However, space is the issue)

Yoga

movies: have a fairly large collection-enjoy action movies, cartoons including Disney and 80s/90s series, comedies, Marvel, TV series like Grey's Anatomy, Big Bang Theory, Dark Shadows, 80s movies.  Some favorite actors include Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.

Disney: favorite movie is Sleeping Beauty.  Goal is to have my whole animated feature film collection upgraded from VHS and DVD to Blu-ray.  I collect merch too depending on what it is, especially vintage Sleeping Beauty stuff.  I am a Disney trivia whiz usually.  Not as up on the newer movies but hoping that changes more when my daughter gets older to watch with.

Holidays: decorating, baking, activities, parties

Other collections: Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Grand Champions, Enchanted Kingdom Horses, Ewoks from Star Wars, Lady Lovely Locks, Rainbow Brite, Monster High, Disney dolls, American Girl historical character dolls, carnival glass, pressed pennies, Disney and favorite movie soundtracks on vinyl,

traveling-would love to make it back to Europe to revisit/visit Ireland, Scotland, England, Italy (especially Venice), Austria, Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, Norway, and Sweden.  Would also like to go to Disneyland and Disney World again, and New Orleans.  I enjoy visiting my brothers and their families in Colorado too.

I enjoy thrifting and finding stuff my husband collects too including Star Wars stuff-mostly Yoda, Michelob Golden Light and other beer merch, Minnesota Vikings and UND hockey stuff, 8 track tapes

Playing video games (even though I have had little time for this recently).  We have many vintage systems including Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii, Sega Genesis, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, Sega GameGear, PS4, Xbox 360.  My favorite games include Pokémon, Mario, Harry Potter, and Harvest Moon.  I also enjoy a few computer games like Sims 2 (don't have any more though) and Age of Empires.

Playing tenor saxophone: am out of practice at the moment but I like to play movie soundtracks, popular songs and holiday music.

Well, first there's music, which is obvious. I love playing music, I especially love woodwind and brass instruments (the oboe and bassoon being my two main instruments, but I own so many more!), I love studying the history of music and musical instruments, I love listening to music, and I love discovering new music to listen to which the internet has made so easy nowadays!

I've probably bored everyone to tears, but I'll mention other interests as well: watching TV shows (mostly cartoons and anime, but I've watched quite a few live action shows in recent years), and sometimes playing video games (mainly The Sims, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, etc.)

I'm totally kidding! :lol: Ponies are definitely my #1 obsession though! Some other things I'm really into are:
*Music ( mostly indie/alternative type stuff. I'm a huge concert junkie and I have a pretty healthy collection of vinyl records at this point too.)
*Home Decor? I really love vintage/mid century home design. My goal is when I move out I want to have a small mid century home with lots of cool old furniture.
*Art. I love almost all forms of fine art like painting, sculpting, drawing, ect. I also like working on large scale projects like yard decorations for the holidays!
*Thrift shopping. Not just for ponies, but also for old furniture and decor. Sometimes I might pick up a cool old sweater too!
*Eating/drinking. Does this count? I love going out to discover cool new restaurants and hang outs in town!
* Local travel. I love taking little day trips to cool cities in my state when I get the chance! Luckily Arizona isnt huge, so most places I like to visit are about 2-3 hours away from the city :)
*Camper Vans. This is a new obsession of mine, but I am DETERMINED to get a camper van one day! I drive a SUV right now and have a pretty sweet bed set up in it, but I want the real deal that has solar power and can run off the grid one day.

We never had a marching band when I was in high school, just regular concert band.  They had jazz/swing band but it was at 7 am during the week and I am not a morning person.  I did enjoy pep band though and played even on nights that were not assigned. 

I actually wanted to initially play drums.  However, I got strep throat on the last day of school in 4th grade when I was supposed to try out instruments to start in the fall in 5th grade.  So, I did not get to pick one until the beginning of 5th grade.  By then I only had the trumpet, trombone, and tenor saxophone left to pick from.  I could not do the mouthpiece on the brass instruments so I was left with the tenor saxophone.  I really enjoy it though and am so glad I did that rather than percussion.  Only thing I did not like was when we got odd background parts that were just background music.

My family historically enjoys games where you buy and sell stocks on a fluctuating market. Stockpile is our most recent game of that style. We have this older stock game called Acquire that we have played for decades thats a family favorite. We havent played it very much though since we got stockpile

I have some other things, a couple barbies, My Scenes, a BEGoth doll that I am keeping down to a minimal. I'm debating about getting back into Blythe....

Non toys - I have a big collection of crystals and gemstones
Halloween decorations - the gothier the better, though I love my cute pumpkins
I have somehow managed to amass a collection of small christmas trees....

You could probably say fabric is something I have built a hoard of. But I sew constantly - I do doll clothing commissions, so it's totally justified to keep buying fabric, lol! (Not really, ha ha, I am so out of space..)I also like knitting and cross stitching. I just never have time to do it!

I love languages, and Latin is my biggest focus with German following right behind. When I read, it tends to be cozy mysteries, or historical things. Just finishing up A Journal of the Plague Year - its a good read. I enjoy Shakespeare, Poe and Lovecraft. I love listening to music, especially 90's goth and a few other great bands sprinkled in as well as spooky ambient. I enjoy drawing and writing as well as blogging, but can't quite develop the habit of doing it regularly. I love to cook. I really love the holidays, and every day is Halloween! My cats run my life, and I am fine with it. :)

Poseable Care Bears, Poseable Wuzzles, Keypers, Glo Friends, Fairy Tails, Trolls, a few Furbies & a TON of plushies. Bakana loves sharkies too & insisted I put up a thread in Toybox for plushie sharkies.

I also love books, assorted movies (no horror or sad romantic, but pretty much everything else), a whole bunch of Netflix shows, learning stuff off of Youtube & I write sometimes.

Lastly I play Dragon Mania Legends & a couple of other Gameloft games (MLP too but only the Windows version so I can use the large monitor)

I like hacking video games, am obsessed with anime, my favorites are Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Dragon Ball Z, but recently I've gotten into Hunter X Hunter and Di Gi Charat. I also love various other dolls/toys and this crosses over with my love for video games and anime a lot. My other favorite toy lines than MLP are Monster High and furbies. I keep aquariums and have 3 cats too...I love my husband and talking to my other friends too. My favorite movie is Killer Bean and my favorite video game mascot is Toro Inoue.

I like collecting music on vinyls and sometimes CDs, and for some reason I also like buying movies and shows on DVDs (but not Blue-Rays!), I also like buying random old junk online like old toys or comic books that I either had as a kid but lost or dreamed of having as a kid but couldn't have (some time ago I bought two Attack Packs that I really wanted back in 1993 after seeing them on TV), or sometimes just interesting new stuff like some novelty gadget or something like that. I also really love solving nonogram puzzles, recently I got my hands on some multi-colored ones that are more difficult and I even had to buy colored pencils for the first time in about twenty years, lol. Another thing that I love is coffee and to a degree also tea, I really like trying new methods of brewing and serving. Sometimes I also like taking long walks around the area, there are times when I will even walk three hours in one direction and then take train back home! I think that's all.

I like lots of things!
 
Physical pursuits: gardening, rock hunting, walking the dog & long walks alone (like many others I require'day dreaming' time, checking out from reality is great!).

Stuff, stuff stuff: almost all popular 80's girly girl toy lines, the fuzzier the stuffie from that time the more I find delight! YA type books (Coville, Lowry & Stein are my favorite authors).

TV has always been a good time consumer and the best babysitter growing up... I find myself watching a lot of shows on PBS Create & ME TV as we do not have cable. seaQuest DSV is my favorite show followed closely by Mork & Mindy.

I like playing electric guitar and drums, playing in band, drawing, cross-stitching and crafting, taking care of pets and house. I collect scale models of cars, planes, motorcycles and LPS cats figures even though I have two ragdoll cats =) I also like riding bike and taking photos.

In terms of collecting, other horse brands (Breyer and GC are my favorites), dinosaurs, Jurassic Park, and Beanie Babies.

In general I love horses, movies and tv shows (Jurassic Park especially  :lookround:), crafting, toy customization, watching YouTube (especially Antonio Garza, Jenna Marbles, Larray, and Twaimz), and sleeping. I also see people mentioning languages so I guess I'm a fan of Spanish considering it's my first language (I didn't learn English until I was in pre school). I'm also currently taking French.

I like educational youtube video, fancy tea shops, miniatures and japanese arts and crafts. Also every other kind of arts and crafts, lol. I collect Sailor Moon goodies.
My favorite thing is going to new places, even if all i do there is have some tea. I just like covering new ground.
