My daughter won first place! (and other happy news)

This is me bragging about my lovely daughters.    I teach after-school art classes to kids and teens, and a great contest for them to enter is our local Audubon Society's Wildlife poster contest  Much to my happiness, my 6-year-old won first place for the 1st grade art studio category!  So proud of her.  I was a bit bummed that my other students didn't place (they all had fabulous entries, if I do say so myself, lol), but I am pleased for my little Norah!  And on a fun sidenote, I was in first grade when I won first place in an art contest.  I think it's cool we can share that!

Then in other news my oldest daughter, Ava, has been taking drum lessons for the past two months.  Her teacher is quite impressed how well she is doing, so we got her her own a snare over the weekend:

I've always wanted to learn how to play it, and Ava's teacher also knows how to play, so she's going to give me some lessons too!
