Posted this at the Trading Post last week so forgiveness if you've already seen it. I had a spotty Firefly who needed some work done. I used a pink pearlescent powder to smooth her out a bit and it turned out really nice! I reapplied her lightening bolts which were completely gone, jazzed up her wings, reapplied blush, and basically repainted her eyes. I meant to just go over them because they were faded and a bit patchy but I didn't have a steady enough hand to just touch the up. The eye shines are I think the only original eye paint still visible. You can't really tell from the pics but I glossed her eyes and I really like how they turned out. I love original pony eyes, but the glossy effect is really nice on the shelf. I also threw a little holographic glitter into the two shades of blue I mixed for her symbol. That photographs less well, it just looks silver here, but I love the effect in person.

I was imagining her as pearly Baby Firefly all grown up, lol.

Oooh the pearly finish looks gorgeous and I love the detailing on the wings! Great job!

Wow, she's beautiful! I love that pearly finish and her wing details. What exactly did you use for the pearlescence, and how did you apply it? Did it need to be sealed?

She looks great! :D

It's a pigment powder by Pearl Ex. I sprayed a coat of matte spray sealant (Krylon Chalk specifically but I'm not entirely happy with it so I don't know that I'd recommend that one (although additional caveat, I live in a humid cold rainy area so sealants are particularly finicky here). Mr. Super Clear is better but I can only get it by ordering online and sometimes you just want to get a thing at the store). I applied the powder all over with a makeup brush and did another layer of sealant. I did like 5 layers, but that was honestly overkill. I think 2 would have been sufficient. And just to clarify, that's under the glitter. Don't put matte seal over glitter.

Oh, thank you so much for this guide, I was about to ask how to do the powder too! I've never used powders (plenty of glitter!), and I was so curious! She turned out soooo good, just a complete turnaround from the 30 grungy Fireflies I have kicking around my baitbox! Thank you for giving her a new life! She looks so much happier! And sooooo smoooooth!!
