Hi ponies,
I just need to get this out of my system as I'm pretty cross right now!
I sold some wings to Rheanon McDonald via Etsy, her user name there is mcdonaldrheanon. Her email is [email protected]
Here is the low down
5 April - sold 3 pairs of wings to a buyer on Etsy for £15
7 April - shipped wings
9 April - seller files an "item not received" via PayPal with a note saying "I want a refund"
Please note I live in the UK and the buyer was in the USA, it takes 5-7 working days for an item to arrive.
11 April - I sent proof of shipping, shipping receipt AND information from Royal Mail's website stating the length of delivery time.
19 April - PayPal emails me saying they have sided with the buyer. And refunded her.
How could she file for item not received only 2 days after she bought the item. There is not a chance her items could have been delivered in that time frame considering I live half way round the world.
No doubt she has the wings and her money back. I think she bought the wings, decided she didn't want them and filed an item not received to get her money back.
I don't see any point in complaining to PayPal since they have already sided with her -_-

That makes me so angry. :mad: I almost want to bug PayPal on your behalf but if she's anything to them like she was to me they likely sided with her to shut her up. Would that I could block her on Etsy... :shakefist:

I had a funny feeling it was the same buyer that you were having problems with, just from the way you described her action. I'm sorry to hear she's been bothering you too.

This makes me so annoyed and angry with Paypal. Their methods of "investigations" are absolutely ridiculous! Seriously there must be a way for you to speak to someone in Paypal management or via their social network eg FB, Twitter to complain about this absurd response to a case. The buyer is obviously pulling a fast one and probably continue to file claims. Sigh. I am so frustrated for you and so sorry to hear this. I wonder if the buyer is on this forum....

Sorry you're going through this. I'm having the same issue myself with a different buyer from another board. Lives across the ocean and thinks item should be there in a week so files through paypal. I hate doing business on the internet.

On looking at her favourite Etsy shops, I see a lot of people who are MLParena members. It makes me concerned that she's doing the same to them as well.
I've cancelled the transaction via Etsy, so I should hopefully get my fees back.
I'm upset with PayPal. I have lost the shipping I paid, despite sending PayPal my shipping receipt. I've also lost the PayPal fees, Etsy sellers fees AND the wings. I'm not £15 out of pocket, I'm more like £20 out of pocket, when you factor in those extras.
I'll see if I can dispute it via PayPal, but they want proof of delivery, so I doubt it.

I did try and call PayPal after she filed the dispute, but all I got was the automated phone system. I couldn't actually get to speak to a human being :( I emailed them at the same time, but haven't had a response (I should check my spam folder, just in case it's in there :P)

Every international package I've received has shown up with the customs number when it enters the country. Even without tracking I get delivery confirmation. If you have the customs number they might be able to confirm delivery.
I'm just so sorry and upset for all of you. Everything is instant these days. I'm just saying "hello it's coming from a different country, the government has rules". Who wouldn't know that. I don't know the different average times for different countries, but I just keep in touch.

She did the same to me. She bought a custom from me on Etsy and it arrived fine, so she bought 2 others. I bought postage at the PO for those two and forgot to upload tracking. I logged into PP yesterday to find she'd opened 3 cases against me and escalated them, and one was for the pony she received first! PP sided with me on that one, but since I can't prove I mailed the others because I have long lost that receipt I had to refund her for them. I cancelled the transactions on Etsy afterward, with a note via PP that I was sorry she didn't receive the other two, and if they were for some reason returned to me she could feel free to re-purchase them if she wanted. She sent me this via Etsy:

I think she's saying she'll pay me for them (or at least for Stripes) on Friday, but it won't do any good because I don't have the ponies! But at least if she's offering to repay maybe that means they didn't actually show up at all?
UGH I wish Etsy would actually do something when problematic buyers are reported but they never do.

Ok I have dealt with her as well, this is what happended with my experience. Sold her a custom pony. She opened a case against me saying pony did not arrived. She had then bought two more ponies from me. I checked tracking on the first one it showed that her address was an "undeliverable address) and I got the pony shipped back to me. Of course the other ones did to. Paypal sided with me. I messaged her and told her what had happened was on her end. And to check with the post office about the other two. They also got sent back to me. So I refunded her money. She got kicked off of etsy but then was back on a few days later. She bought another pony from me. I messaged her saying I needed a different address to send it to. She never responded. I messaged her a few more times and she didn't respond until I told her I was going to cancel the sale. This pony arrived at her address. She has since bought two more ponies from me. But I wish etsy had a block mode.

Sadly, you can't. Etsy has no way of blocking any user for any reason. There are known scammers on Etsy and Etsy won't do a thing about it when presented with overwhelming evidence.

She has bought 2 rehairs from me.
The first was Jan 31, 2016. No issues
The second was April 5, 2016. I shipped on April 7, 2016 (thursday). On April 9, 2016 (saturday) I got a paypal non-receipt claim that had immediately been escalated to a dispute. The only note was "I want a refund". The item had tracking and was still en route! I let paypal know. Gave them the tracking. Told them it was still in route and that the buyer had not messaged me and had bought from me before. Told them I had pics of the item and my shipping receipt. It is still being reviewed by paypal, but the package was delivered on April 11, 2016. The buyer has not contacted me. I let paypal know that this morning.
*edit - I decided to share this thread with paypal since they are still reviewing my case, to let them know she may be a scammer.

Roogna it looks like she opened the dispute for your rehair on the same day as she opened the dispute on my wings. That is a good idea to share this thread with Paypal, hopefully they will realise that she is the problem and just how many people she has duped.

I believe her simply a scammer. She purchased from me on the 8th and cancelled on the 9th. Would that she did have a financial emergency I would understand somewhat but I think she wants a free OOAK pony display herd. :pout:

I am amazed paypal doesn't have people like this popping up in their system with warning lights on?
They should see too that she is filing claim after claim and how unlucky can one person be to really not receive any????
To me it looks like paypal needs to keep an eye on those multiple claims filers too!
(I had nothing to do with her - just stalking this thread and reading with amazement)

Sparkler: I too am wondering how and why PayPal are letting her make so many claims? The odd claim yes, but so many, surely that would raise a red flag????
Sadly, I don't think I can dispute further with PayPal since I don't have proof of delivery, only proof of shipping.

I don't think there is :(
You can cancel a transaction through Etsy and refund her :) you should get your fees back for Etsy. That might be the way forward if she buys anything.

I do think that is our only recourse now. I will definitely refuse her business should she attempt again (and you do get a number of fees back but must pay to relist the items in question) for the reason of 'bullying to gain free services of myself and a portion of the community at large'.

I started to send a message but I don't know if I should. I am going to remove the tag on my item that it's held... she seems to want to buy bubbles customs from me... luckily the other one I had actually sold to someone else in the meantime.
If I get another scammer buyer I'm gonna cry, I'm currently dealing with a bad ebay buyer who's gonna basically get their money back and my expensive item, all because they are not patient... anyway sorry side rant, it's just killing me. I trust everyone and try to do good by people and I'm tired of being taken advantage of... :|

I took off the hold on the two I was holding for her and if she trys to buy them from me I will confront her basically saying that she likes to open cases against sellers for no reason. She's just not a person I feel like dealing with anymore. Sunshine I'm sorry to hear your dealing with another bad apple, if I were you I would just cancel if she does try buying from you.

I agree with aj, wait and see what happens and if she does buy cancel the order and refund her.
It is better to loose a few fee's than deal with the aggravation :hug:

I got such a same bad story last summer, not with your scammer but an other one, through Ebay. And Paypal gave her rights!!!
I tell you the story very briefly (it lasted nearly 2 months!!!)
I have sold a french loose sunlight, 2 days after receiving the girl messaged me : "ok I got it, thanks", nearly 2 weeks after , I was abroad for summer with family, she messaged saying that she opened the pony :shocked: and found it was rehaired!!! I GOT NO REHAIR IN MY COLLECTION!! and I do NOT REHAIR MYSELF! I tried to talk to her, saying I found it odd to contact me 2 weeks after, she has maybe completly destroyed the pony and now wanted a refund.
She opened a case and told to Paypal: she will send me the pony back. You can imagine how my vacation abroad was sad due to all this!
When I came back, I have received an ENVELOP! only full of paper tissue!!! :shocked: No pony! I call Paypal completly schocked, they told me to go to the police station to obtain a claim.
I went and you know what: the policeman told me that they can do nothing for me! Because they have more problems and no time to work for Paypal, and it was the job of Paypal to protect me ! But he told me that Paypal will do nothing.
I told him , it was the law he needed to help a bit! So he finally have done a paper . I send the paper to Paypal. And Paypal finally gave right to the other girl only because she gave her a tracking number for the letter!!! I have contacted them telling that ther was nothing except paper tissue. They refund her. So she was refunded and kept my pony :( :(
I was soo shocked by this , only one closer friend knew this. :( but now I feel better to say it.

wow. total scammer :( I'm so sorry she has done this to you pkw and everyone else in this thread too! makes me so angry that Paypal could even think about siding with her- you have proof of postage , plus with all the claims she is making they should be investigating her, not siding with her. Definitely email them a link to this thread pkw. Its worth a shot, and thank you for messaging all those members whose shops she's targeting :hug:

Oh no :( what a nightmare. Sorry this has happened
I would try and contact PayPal again. You can also ring them, they are helpful.
Clearly tell them that Royal Mail estimates 5-7 working days for expected delivery but they do not say a parcel is lost until at least 25 days. (This is when you can claim with Royal Mail signed or not signed for you can claim)
Basically just explain everything to PayPal. There is 100% no way her wings would of arrive to her by 9th of April (Saturday) considering you sent them on 7th of April which is a Thursday that gave them 1 working day and a bit to get to her! Just not going to happen. Quickest we have had items arrived to our USA customers is 2 working days which was a one off really still no idea how it got there that fast :P (I think it was when items used to fly into New York first and this customer was in New York) Usually we have to pay for Express UPS shipping to get orders to our customers in under 3 working days.
Tell them that Royal Mail does not consider them lost until 25 days has passed so why do they?
You can also provide them with the evidence from everyone else this has happened to. It might be a hassle to do but best not to give into these scamming bullies :(
We have found Etsy to be very helpful (especially lately) hopefully they will block her, if they don't & she purchases again just keep cancelling her order.
Hope you can get this sorted :( I would definitely try PayPal again they have been very helpful with us in the past when we have had any issues.

I am glad you found PayPal helpful when you have had issues. Sadly I have not found them helpful with this case. When I tried to call I couldn't get through to a human. During the case I presented them with proof of shipping, a shipping receipt and length of shipping time from the UK to the US, they have still sided with the buyer :(
I have emailed PayPal today stating many of the facts in this thread as well as link.
I don't think there is any more I can do. I have accepted that I will not get my money back and so I can do is warn others.

Paypal is known for doing this kind of thing(and worse), and there are a lot of angry people out there. That anger has led to some websites being created to gripe about Paypal, and post information for people dealing with this stuff. The biggest one I know of is paypalsucks.com.
They have a listing of possible numbers where you might be able to talk to a human:

There are other resources as well on that site.
I don't know how up to date those numbers are(the site's been around a long time), but hopefully it's a place to start. Be careful - there are a lot of fake Paypal numbers out there used by scammers!

With eBay/Paypal unless you have 100% tracking that shows it was delivered to the address, its a lost cause. the customs number showing its in a county will not make a difference. We learned the hard way on eBay years ago.
That's why every international item has 100% tracking and insurance. Yes it does cost a lot, but it protects the seller and buyer.

Well, I just got a message from PayPal and they clearly don't give a monkey's uncle that Rheanon's McDonald is abusing their system. It was a copy and paste response about seller protection, tracking and proof of delivery, blah, blah blah.
There was no response at all to the evidence I have given about Rheanon's repeated claims for "item not received" as far as I can see PayPal are quite happy for her to carry on this way at everyone else's expense.
I can hardly say I'm surprised though, I've know for a long time that this goes on and I've seen what's happened to others in this situation.
Paypals responce towards me makes me feel like dirt, as if I'm the one that's the scammer -_-
This is now going to affect my other customers as I've had to increase my shipping prices, so that anything over £20 is sent tracked, signed for and insured.

I have officially given up with getting any help or support from Paypal.
I have received a reply from Etsy, who want some more details about the transaction.
I can only urge others who have had similar issues with Rheanon to report her to Etsy.

My case was closed in my favor
from paypal:
"We've reviewed the shipment tracking information you provided and have confirmed delivery of the merchandise to Rheanon McDonald. As a result, this case has been resolved in your favor."

It really sucks that so many of you have gone through this trouble with this one scammer. I've never sold on Etsy, but I've considered it in the past. With the inability to block scammers and bad buyers, it makes me wonder, is it worth trying to sell things on Etsy at all? Does the good out weight the bad?

I have found it enjoyable aside from this one User. They provided me with a free card reader to which I put to good use last year at a local convention. Having an online storefront has been okay but should I garner a more profitable venture I would create my own and get a reader through PayPal. Being able to accept cards is a must nowadays to seem more legitimate and facilitate impulse purchases as fewer people carry sufficient cash. ^^;
UPDATE:
She has not returned my merchandise as of yet and after tomorrow's post has arrived I will see what recourse is offered since I sent Priority and also attempted a Package Intercept. I always take photos now of the packages I send out so I also have a picture of the package stamped and ready to go at the post office counter along with the Tracking number.
Not long after receiving the package, she asked for me to Hold another pony for her. I responded (in essence) My money or my ponies, please. No response.
Tonight she asked for me to make recreations of Sold ponies so she can purchase them. I copy pasted the bulk of my previous My money or my ponies, please. I doubt I shall get a response this time either.
I am decidedly angry. I wish no further discourse with her, although her missives are hardly what I would call proper speech as my 5 year old knows better sentence structure. :pout:

retrogradenova I too have found etsy a great place to sell :) I have had an account since 2007, but seriously started selling in 2011 and this is the first real problem I have had.

Maybe because of this scammer, etsy will re-evaluate some of their policies and procedures and change them and offer some protections for sellers.

Same last name same town, I hate to say it but I'm thinking its either her using a different name or maybe using the name of a relative? What is the mailing address could check it out and see if it matches Rheanon Mcdonalds address.

It isn't the same place to ship to. The one she used before was an apartment but this is just a street address. Even if it is just a relative, it feels like she's attempting to go around whatever penalties Etsy finally placed upon her. :pout:

I decided not to be sneaky about it because I don't want to give her/them any wiggle room to allow Etsy to side with them.
I declined the sale and gave this message :
I have a suspicion that you are directly related to someone with whom I had a disagreeable interaction previously. I am sorry if you are not but I have given it much thought and do not feel good about this sale. It feels as if that person is attempting to circumvent penalties placed upon them through their own actions.

Sorry to hear about that people need to remember when your purchasing something that is half way across the world its going to take time if you don't have the patience to wait then don't purchase online go to stores you and other people should not have to face losing out due to people like that shes probably been doing it for years and knows how to work paypal which is why she won, but she really did not win if you think about it because now a lot of people know her game and will be on her or possibly not sell to her and by you creating this thread you've now alerted more people about what shes doing so she will be stopped eventually and she'll no longer be able to play her little game I do hope things get better for you I am sorry once again you lost out because of people like her.

I'm originally from ND so don't fault all North Dakotans! It's a big state! Just keep watch for anyone from Fargo. I'm just thankful I'm originally from the opposite side of the state.

She can't have had her ban lifted, since she's not resolved her issues wth me. She must have created a new account under a family members details.
I did find her relations when I did a Google search and a couple of different postal addresses for her /family including a PO box address all in Fargo.
She has a couple of facebooks as well.

Hm, she liked a loads of my stuff today and I must admit I'm not impressed.
I was told her account would be suspended until she worked things out with me. She has done nothing to resolve the issue with me -_-
She's got some cheek to like my things after what she did to me. She has no shame especially with regards to Archi -_-
If she tries to buy from me again, I'm cancelling her order.

She is now using the cancelled invoices to open conversations to say that she has the ponies. Not that I didn't know that since I had sent them Priority. :pout: I cannot handle her. But I want my ponies back. I don't even care to have her money at this point, not that I believe that I would get any now.

What a nutcase! I cannot believe Etsy tolerates scammers like this! But just wait. Once more of this kind of thing happens -- because it will -- they will get protections in place.

From all the accounts I've heard, PayPal seems to side with the buyer automatically unless an actual person who actually cares is contacted by the seller, no matter the facts and no matter how dodgy the buyer is being.

I went ahead and did mail those two ponies to her "mother's" address, but I sent them with signature confirmation. ;)

Two days ago your client (if this is her staff speaking hereon) notified me unnecessarily that she had the ponies that she impulse bought and then harassed me to cancel as I was preparing to mark them shipped. At the time it was my policy to ship as soon as possible so I shipped the morning following the order. Next I will quote from what I sent to Etsy Trust & Safety on April 26 15:49UTC.
"Late night on April 8th (Friday) Rheanon McDonald made purchases in my shop. I shipped the following morning and began filling out the "Shipped" portion on my app once home. As soon as I was doing so the Post Office closed and I began receiving a flurry of annoyance messages demanding immediate refund. I responded that I was unfamiliar with the necessary procedure and would respond further when I could ascertain such. Once I put out a "Package Intercept" with USPS I then cancelled Orders #1090332444, #1092231417, #1092234325, and #1092236287 which were sent USPS Priority with a Tracking number [redacted] which was delivered to her on April 11 at 12:42pm in what they have termed a Parcel Locker at [redacted address]; Fargo, ND 58103-2997, United States. "
Attached is the USPS receipt and the package at time of shipping on the post office counter stamped.
The items ordered at that time were G1 - G4 custom My Little Pony adaptations of Twinkle Eye Locket, Twice As Fancy Night Glider, TE Galaxy, TAF Milky Way. Those are the items of merchandise I requested the return. I can provide the pictures of said items upon request.
Should she desire to retain the merchandise I can create a specialized Listing that can be purchased and I will alert other sellers that representatives of your client have made recompense with me. You should be aware that she has done this to multiple sellers of such goods and it is a small community.
