I'm still a maybe, inching toward probably not. I have my eye on the weather right now. Usually 1-3 inches of snow isn't bad, but we have been getting some nasty wind with the last few storms. Plus it is an unfamiliar driving route for me. Everyone have fun!

Sounds like fun! I'll have to check a few things, but put me down as a maybe!

Pony Corral / Re: Your best pony find?« on: March 04, 2015, 10:42:43 PM »
I've been pretty lucky over the years as well, but MIB Diamond Dreams is definitely a special find. The thrift store I found her at hardly ever has anything. I just stopped by on my way through town and was making a quick run-through. I ended up starting at the back of the toy aisle. As I glanced upward .... I nearly fell over when I saw the side of the box peeking out on the top shelf. I almost fell over again when I saw the price ($6.99! The same as the original price tag!)

Pony Corral / Re: Are older MLP toys still child safe?« on: December 08, 2014, 04:19:22 PM »
I'd be careful with little kids that may chew, but otherwise I wouldn't stress about older kids. I agree that there is too much other stuff out there to be too concerned. (Then again I grew up on a farm and used to run barefoot through the barnyard.)

Pony Corral / Re: Which areas have the most ponies in thrift stores?« on: November 03, 2014, 04:05:20 PM »
There used to be a lot here (it was amazing in the late 90's and early 00's), but it has thinned out the last few years. I still usually run across a few on my rounds. Maybe not every week, but usually at least once a month. I even still find those amazing finds about once a year or maybe two.

Pony Corral / Re: New poll: are you a picky collector?« on: September 29, 2014, 04:08:54 PM »
I'm more picky than I was. I'm primarily a thrift store hunter right now. I do collect all generations, but I have a lot of ponies in good condition and don't always have a lot of time to nurse everyone I find back to health. Most of the US G1 ones I need are mail order and most of the ones I need to upgrade are not in bad shape themselves. Also I think there are some newer collectors in my hunting range, so sometimes I'll pass a borderline one by the first time round and pick it up if it is still there the next week.
Smokey ponies have always been a turn off. Excessive marks and buzz-cuts usually stay behind too because I'm not really a customizer. |
