Custom Breyers
« on: February 06, 2015, 11:52:38 AM »
Hi, recently I have just gotten into breyers and have a small collection. What I would really love is a custom of my horse who had to be put to sleep a few years ago. I had him from 8 months old and sadly he only lived to be four. Even though it's been 5 years I still miss him like crazy.

Back on topic, I'd want the custom to be to a very high standard. How much should I expect to pay?

I've seen a breyer customiser on ebay uk who has amazing customs. But I don't know if they take commissions (I've messaged them). Does anyone else know of any good customisers?

Also to any uk breyer collectors, where do you buy the new models from any good web stores?

Edit to add pic. Here he is he was called Joss.

Thanks for reading any help is appreciated :)

Diamond may be able to help you out :) She is super knowledgeable about model horses and customising of them. Hopefully she will see this thread but if she doesnt you could pop her a pm directing her here.

I'm afraid I can't really help out with finding a customizer except to perhaps recommend hitting up Model Horse Blab for help finding one. Your Joss was beautiful!

As for retailers, you might try Modell Pferde Versand in Germany or Horse Sense Online in the UK. I seem to recall there was another German supplier too but the name escapes me at the moment. For older stock Utterly Horses may have some but they will not be getting new stock due to the whole Copperfox debacle. Hope that helps!

I'm so sorry for your loss, he was a beautiful horse!

I will have to look if I can find some deviantART links for you, I don't actively follow any Breyer customisers (I think? :D ) but I spot them quite frequently in various groups.

Here are a couple of links (please note I don't know any of these artists, I just did a quick search on DA):

Hope this helps to get you started! Let us know how it goes. :)

Thanks for all the help  :) and thanks for for the links griffin, I never thought of checking DA!

The customiser on ebay messaged me back saying she does do commissions so I'm waiting on a quote from her. I think I'll be going with her (if she'll do it!) as I really like her work  :)
