bit of general custom help
« on: April 18, 2012, 03:49:14 AM »
the custom i am making is coming along quite nicely  but i am waiting on some hair to come as i made such a n00b mistake and used all of one colour in the tail without keeping any for the mane >.<

my question is whether i should paint the eyes now or rehair then paint?

I do all my paiting first, then seal then re-hair.

It's up to yourself really :) Personally I paint then rehair, just because the hair gets in my way! Though I know others prefer to hair and then paint incase of cracking or dirtying the paint when you're handling it.

usually paint and seal the eyes first, mostly because you want to avoid the hair accidentally hitting the wet paint/sealer :) But whichever way works for you

I would paint and seal, then hair. I made the mistake of re-hairing first only once and will never do so again lol. It becomes really hard to keep all the hair out of the way when you are trying to paint.

lol  I do the opposite of everyone it seems.  I rehair first, then paint the eyes.  Unless it's a full body repaint, then I'll paint first.  It's all in what you're comfortable with.

Lavender_Lace, I'm a freak like you! lol ... I always rehair, then paint. It's just my process I guess.
If I do a full body repaint, I do the FBR, then rehair, then paint the design. Because I'm weird like that. XD

Either way works!  I used to paint first, but now I do whichever I can find time and energy for. :P  Little hair clips and rubber bands do a decent job of keeping hair out of the way.
