Hey everypony! I found this pic in a Google image search and am intrigued by the Butterscotch plush in the front row. I've gone through the wiki and several other sites searching for other pics or info regarding which country she was available in etc. but have come up empty. If anyone knows who this photo/collection belongs to or if you have any info on where this Butterscotch was sold please let me know! Thanks so much :)

Pony Brag Arena / G3 Jumbo Plush Finds!
« on: September 22, 2021, 04:28:00 AM »
I had a great week on the secondhand circuit! I scored a jumbo G3 Pinkie Pie for $10 on Marketplace, and then a few days later found a G3 Minty on Gumtree for $50. I love these jumbo plush ponies, they're so gorgeous. I'm lucky enough to have a few now, but they take up so much space that it's a bit problematic as far as displaying and storing them goes. I would love to have them all, but my pony room would need elasticised walls to accommodate them!

I really enjoy watching Urban Exploration videos, where people go inside old abandoned hospitals/schools/factories/hotels/theme parks etc. Most places have been emptied out, but some places still have furniture and documents inside.

In this video the explorers are looking inside this old abandoned home, which is amazingly still filled with the previous owner's belongings. At 13:56 minutes they show a G1 MLP board game.  No other pony stuff inside, but I thought it was pretty cool that they found it and filmed it.

Pony Brag Arena / Pony Room Reveal
« on: April 19, 2020, 06:14:03 AM »
I've been longing for a pony room since I was a little girl, and now my dream has finally come true! What better way to spend my time in isolation than to finally empty out our smallest bedroom and convert it to a full-fledged dedicated toy room? It's not finished, I still need to find a coffee table to set up Paradise Estate, and I haven't put up any of the artwork yet so the walls are a bit bare. It's a very small room but eventually I'll convert the cupboard into a display alcove. But every time I walk into my rainbow room, I'm filled with joy! The whole room smells like ponies. It's such a pleasure to just sit and soak it all up. My collection has lived in storage containers for so many years, I'm over the moon to finally be able to display it.

It's wonderful to be able to display my Care Bears too.

The pink floor isn't a rug, it's actually a quilt! The carpet is 60s pea-soup green and pretty unattractive. Eventually I'll put down a rug which complements the room. The wing backed armchair is so comfy!

I haven't really figured out how to display my MOC/MIB ponies. I'd like to display them properly so they're all visible, but stacked in rows on the shelf will have to do for now.

I've got a mix of 80s and 90s toys... I love the nostalgia.

Pony Corral / How do you display your collection?
« on: April 09, 2020, 08:48:43 AM »
How do you like to display or arrange your ponies? Do you go by generation, year of release, by set, by pose, or by colour? Do you have a preferred order, or are they all mixed up randomly?

Pony Corral / Australia - Reject Shop Takara Fakie
« on: April 01, 2020, 10:56:17 PM »
I found a cute plaster model kit at the Reject Shop which looks like a Takara pony! It only cost $8.00 and was such a fun little project to do while I'm home sick with laryngitis. I painted it up this morning and I think it looks adorable. I don't normally do fakies, but since a real Takara is out of my price range I think it's a good compromise. Just wanted to let any other Aussie collectors know in case they're also interested  ^.^

Pony Corral / Paradise Estate Playset Measurements
« on: February 21, 2020, 11:04:49 PM »
Hi Pony People!

Does anybody know the measurements of Paradise Estate when it's closed? I didn't think to measure mine before disassembling it, and now it's super hard for me to get to and setup again. If anyone has the dimensions I'd be super grateful!  ^.^

Pony Brag Arena / Paradise Estate Arrived! ((Hyperventilates))
« on: January 08, 2020, 02:03:43 AM »
I am so happy. Paradise Estate has been a major grail of mine forever. In all honesty I seriously doubted I'd ever actually get to own it, both because of the size and because of the price. But my dream finally came true! When I got home from work and saw the gigantic box, I seriously squealed out loud. Unboxing it was so thrilling, and I had such a fun time setting it up. It felt like I was a little kid again on Christmas day, overwhelmed with excitement and full of wonder and joy.

It is in perfect mint condition. The original owner either was the most careful child in the world, or they just didn't play with it very frequently. One decal sticker has a bit of damage, but that's seriously the only flaw. The roof is so pink. All the hinges work and it opens and closes smoothly. And it came with all the original accessories and the original box. I can't stop admiring the artwork on the box - it's so beautiful! They really, really don't make playsets like they used to!

It's currently set up in my dining room.  It takes up the entire 6-seater table with the tabletop extensions out, and the playset hangs over the edge when opened up.  Even though I've seen it in person before, I still got a shock to set it up and see how enormous it is. It was bigger than I remember it being! Personally I think it looks amazing set up on the dining table, but funnily enough the rest of my family is somewhat less enthusiastic about it  Sadly, I will have to pack it up over the next few days and put it away. But I am in negotiations with my family to convert the smallest bedroom into a pony room, so I am super hopeful that I will be able to display it eventually. One day.

I feel truly and deeply fortunate to be able to tick this major grail off my want list. The excitement will have to sustain me for a while, because after this big acquisition I'm going to have to scale back on collecting. Other financial commitments have to take priority for now, but hopefully I'll still be able to pick up a pony every now and then. And I can use the time away from active collecting to (hopefully) assemble my new pony room!
Sometimes pony dreams do come true! :lovey:

Pony Brag Arena / BEST PONY MAIL! Nirvana and a Grail! ((flails))
« on: August 18, 2019, 11:39:11 PM »
Pony mail has been so good to me this week!  I've been really down recently and struggling to push through a lot of negative thoughts and feelings.  Things are hard at the moment and I'm not in a very good place. :( So having happy pony mail arrive has been such a boon.  New ponies can't fix all my problems, but they really do help!  And there are some really special ponies here I've been wanting for a while, so I am incredibly excited to be able to add them to my herd.

Group photo!

GRAAAAAAIL!  I've always wanted Jenny!  Her brown colouring reminds me of Bonnie's original MLP concept art.  She's also my first Macau pony, so I'm thrilled to have a new Nirvana

Baby Ribbons and Hearts is just such a cutie!  I'm loving her factory curls.  Added bonus - you know that beautiful pony smell we all adore?  Her pony scent is super strong!

Kiss and Make Up is my first Euro Sweet Kisses pony. I wasn't expecting to love her as much as I do, but something about her just tickles my fancy.  Her name though - dreadful!  :P

Pearlized Baby Moondancer!  She still has that beautiful shimmery, pearly lustre all over.  She doesn't have a single rub anywhere  :)

Managed to find both versions of the Euro Baby Surprise Cuddles. I don't care what they say, her symbol doesn't look like a cat to me!  I can't decide what the little creature is supposed to be!   I really hope I can complete this set, I think they're so gorgeous!

Also at the back is the Stranger Things Applejack.  I just had to have her  ^.^  Definitely the weirdest franchise crossover ever.  I love her even more in person than compared to all the photos I've seen.  I can't bring myself to unbox her though.  I might need to buy a second one so I can have a loose one  :lookround:

As for the two Perfume Puff girls... I'm at a bit of a loss as to what I'm going to do with them.  They're severely discoloured, much worse than they appeared in the eBay listing photos (I never would have paid so much for them had I realised how badly discoloured they are).  I don't know much about Perfume Puffs, so I'm a bit worried about trying to clean them.

So much lovely in one place.  They've really lifted my spirits this week  ^.^

Pony Brag Arena / Pony Grail Mail! MOC Rainbow Curl Ponies.
« on: June 13, 2019, 12:13:41 AM »
Awesome pony mail yesterday! The Rainbow Curl Ponies have been my favourite set for such a long time.  Stripes was my favourite childhood pony, and still is my favourite as an adult.  I have always wanted this set MOC (the backcard art is simply gorgeous!), but I always missed out when they came up for sale. Finally found them all from the same seller and I bought the lot, but unfortunately, the seller has misplaced Raincurl.  Once they find her and mail her to me, I'll have a complete set at last  ^.^

Pony Brag Arena / My Pony Room!
« on: June 01, 2019, 05:42:13 AM »
Well, it's not exactly a pony room.  It's actually my family's living room, but since they're all away right now, I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to redecorate

I was lucky enough to have a little holiday with some pony friends, and spending time in their glorious pony rooms inspired me to pull my ponies out of their storage boxes and see what my collection looked like on display.  Sadly, I must pack everything away before my family returns in a few days  :(  But in the meantime, I'm loving having them on display where I can fully appreciate them.

These are just my loose ponies, so only part of my collection.  Would love to display my MOC/MOB ponies, my merch, and my porcelains, but I'm already out of room!

They're only makeshift risers, so it's hard to see every row of ponies, and the light isn't great.  And the Nirvanas are all mixed in, and ideally I'd display them separately.  But even though it's not perfect and nowhere near as pretty as everyone else's pony rooms, looking at them all soothes my soul.

Pony Corral / G1 MLP Sugar Cookies Spotted!
« on: November 11, 2018, 01:09:27 AM »
This was such a random find, lol.  Was watching sugar cookie icing videos (it's so satisfying!), and much to my surprise and delight spotted G1 pony cookies being iced.  Screenshot from the video, time index for the pony cookies is 2:42 seconds.  Thought it was pretty cool!  I'd have a hard time eating such beautiful cookies though!

Pony Brag Arena / GRAAAAAAILZ!! Mommy and Baby MO Ponies.
« on: November 03, 2018, 09:58:03 PM »
It took years and years, but I finally managed to snag the MO Mommy and Baby pony set!  As a genuine crazy cat lady (6 and counting!  ), any pony with cats or kittens in an instant must have.  These two were just so hard to find at reasonable prices that I never thought I'd own them, but the Pony Powers That Be smiled upon me, and I was able to buy them separately at a reasonable prices and then reunite mommy and baby.

Mommy's hair is faded white but still with factory waves, and her symbol is unfortunately faded.  Baby's face has sadly been chewed on by some child, so she'll need some very delicate plastic surgery (haha!) to reduce the very obvious teeth marks in her poor muzzle.  Baby has had a haircut also, but real foals have very short manes and tails and still look adorable, and she rocks her new style with real flair.  Despite their flaws, I am absolutely over the moon to have these precious ponies at last!

Does anyone know why this set is sometimes referred to as "Beechy/Beachy Keen"?  I know they came from the "A Day at the Beach" pamphlet, so I get the reference... but is that name official anywhere, or did it just grow from the collectors' vernacular?

Pony Brag Arena / Completed G1 Alternate Birthflower Set! SING HALLELUJAH!
« on: September 22, 2018, 09:25:50 PM »
::flails::  :frolic:

The ultimate grail attainment!  So happy! :lovey:

When I started re-collecting over a decade ago, I set my heart on completing the Alternate Birthflower set of ponies.  Their colours were just so beautiful and so much more gorgeous than the typical pink and white MO varieties.  It took years and years of searching, sometimes I'd find three in the space of a month, sometimes I'd go half a year between finds.  At times I despaired that I would never complete the set, because certain ponies just kept eluding me (Violet, Cosmos, Daffodil, and Lily of the Valley, I'm looking at you!) and sometimes their price was too high.

But the final pony arrived this week, and I am thrilled to pieces!  I just wish I had somewhere to display them properly in a cabinet, they look so lovely together as a set.  Am particularly chuffed to have the reverse Alternate Alternate December Holly.  As you can see she's got some tail rust, but I'll get her all fixed up.  She's pretty in any condition!

Sorry for the less than stellar background job, I couldn't find a good setup for a group shot and have good light.

Pony Brag Arena / Nirvana Alert! I got an Indian Funskool pony! ((flails))
« on: September 12, 2018, 05:29:28 PM »
I never thought I'd have one, but I finally found a beautiful Indian Funskool Blossom!  Aside from some surface dirt, she's in really good condition.  Her long forelock, mane and tail are a lovely feature.  She's so pretty in real life, I love her even more in person than I did just looking at her photos  ^.^

Honestly, I don't expect I'll ever own large numbers of Nirvanas because the cost is so inhibitive.  But my new goal is to own at least one example from each unique country of manufacture/factory.  The little differences between moulds and colours and quality are fascinating.
