Title: Sunfading Baby Starbow?
Post by: poniesthatsparkle on June 27, 2019, 05:56:18 PM
The sun is getting very strong where I live, and I've been wanting to attempt to sunfade my yellowed Baby Starbow.

I'm just worried about her burning out in the sun. I've heard that the white ponies with the more translucent plastic are prone to burning, and my Starbow is made out of that slightly translucent plastic.

Would a hydrogen peroxide soak be safer for her? Or is it still too risky? I've heard this stuff can damage hair as well, and I don't want to risk that.

I would paint cream H202 onto her and leave her in the sun for a few days. Avoid the hair and cover the hair up with tinfoil so it doesn’t get bleached. Then she should be like new after a few days :) H202 does not damage the plastic.

The american one with the blue hair seems to be prone to discolouration and as you say, she has the translucent plastic so I think you're wise to be cautious. If you are going to go ahead with it I would suggest checking her often.

I personally wouldn't risk it if you have very strong sun.
