I've been putting some glow-in-the-dark paint coats on a custom, and had some water sitting in a plastic cup. When I started drinking from my water glass, I realized it was the brush cup! I only used it once, this time, and that was an hour ago. Will I die? Will I explode?! AHHHHHHH!!!!
-
Was it acrylic paint? Almost all of those are non-toxic. Even *if* it has something nasty in it, your dosage would be very low after 1 sip. I've done it, I once washed a brush loaded with Citadel paint in my coffee cup. Yuk! one sip was enough!
-
:haha: Far too funny
You'll surely live to make that mistake yet again sometime down the road :P
-
Don't panic.
Find your towel.
You'll be okay; I haven't exploded yet and heaven knows that I've drank my share of paint water.
-
I've drank paint water plenty of times, it's nothing to worry about!
I also used to eat glitter paint when I was very young (apparently it tasted good...) so my insides are probably glittery. Maybe yours will glow in the dark now!
-
Was it good? ;)
-
Yes your time is coming to an end. Stay away from fire you will burst into flames.
-
I thought I was the only one who did that. :haha:
Glad I'm not the only absent minded painter here. ^.^
-
Was it good? ;)
Haha, no, there was so little paint in it, it wasn't even cloudy. I'm only painting the horn right now, so hadn't gone very far.
Yeah, it was acrylic paint. I wasn't really worried, but when I realized what I was doing, I stopped swallowing and let it all fall out of my mouth on the table in horror :p
-
Thanks you so much for this!! Now giggling at the thought of GITD "by products".
-
LOL, you'll be fine. Plus you'll get a good story out of it. :D

That's hilarious! I have done that before when discovering I was eating something awful. Like chocolate covered in tiny moving bugs. No idea what they were. They looked like shaved off chocolate flakes (whitish) and were super tiny. Horror!

Oh, god--you win this round! That's so gross!
-
Lol! This needs to turn into a "what I ate and didn't want to" thread.
The bugs, by the way, didn't taste like anything.
-
ive done that before, and sadly its not the worst thing ive drank
i had a bad habit of laving cups of drink around the place and comming back to them MUCH latter.
one time i drank a cup of coffee that as a day old and sitting out on the bench
another time i drank a cup of water that had previously been used to thaw out food for one of my pet snakes.
needless to say i havent left a cup of drink out since then ,
-
Pffft if pony paint was going to kill you, I'd have been dead ages ago! As was already stated most acrylics are non-toxic.
-
When you start to glow in the dark....then we have an issue! :) LOL!

I used to get untreated flour, and it would get weevils in it. I would sift them out, but once I used it after it had gotten WAY too weevily. . . it tasted nasty. And I had already sifted the weevils out. I think what I was tasting was their. . . leavings.
-
I've eaten the paint right off the end of my brush before. I'm a notorious brush licker, especially with my super fine point liner brushes... Acrylic tastes...kind of like glue and play doh mixed together.
Please don't ask why I know what both of those taste like. :lookround:
I was a glue eater when I was a kid. And play-doh spaghetti was apparently delicious as well.

Ooooooh my!! I have goosebumps on my scalp right now!! O_O
(I have a huuuuuuge fobia of insects)

:D You so funny! This is a good lesson in what not to do. LOL
I have not actually drank the paint water yet, but I've caught myself like mid arm raise and realized that wasn't my drink.
-
Lesson for everyone; Don't drink and customize :P
-
Ew weevils. Ew. And pet snake used cup for thawing...oh gosh that is gross!
I once ate something very very bitter and nasty in my cereal. I have no idea to this day what it was. There was no indication of anything living in the cereal and it was a box that we were just finishing up but it wasn't "old". That was the worst thing I think I have ever tasted. It was so bitter. But what was it!?
-
Here's another one! I once found what I thought was a stray chocolate chip at the bottom of the cookie tin so I picked it up and ate it... It did NOT taste like a chocolate chip. Ew. Don't know what that was.
That's the only other disgusting thing I can remember accidentally consuming. I'll come back if I remember any more! This thread is funny.
Oh, I may have also swallowed a few bugs that have flown into my mouth. But doesn't everyone?
-
Could be worse, I went to an art high school and in one class a student downed a glup of turpentine.
You really need to label dangerous clear liquids carefully and don't have your water bottle next to a bottle of that stuff.
-
I'm glad to see it seems you shall live!!
I used to keep bottles of water in my windowsill next to my bed...
A few years ago I reached for one in the middle of the night,
and I ended up waking up to a mouthful of the worst tasting substance ever....
NAIL POLISH REMOVER!
-
I lick my brush tips sometimes, sometimes it just works better than the paint water to get the right consistency. Considering I add windex to my paint water I'm probably also getting some of that as well as any acrylic residue in my mouth.... eeehh hasn't killed me yet.
I never use drinking glasses for any of my painting, so it's not a mistake I can see myself making.
-
My cat drinks my paint water all the time. I can't get him to stop. Little turd.
-
when customizing i always use a cup with a lid for my drinks then i can sort of keep in check that i didn't rinse my brush in my drink. also if i pick up a drink that's uncovered then i know i got the brush water and NOT my drink...hopefully before it's entered my mouth...LOL
-
Eh, I accidentally drank my water color water when I was a kid... I guess I turned out ok, LOL.
-
you should send me all your ponies for safe keeping, yah know just as a safety measure.
:devious:
i use a small glass jar for my paint water, so less of a hazard of drinking it.

lol cute little rhyme

:lmao: Oh my I've almost done that before, but never actually did it!
-
speaking as one who twirls her super tiny brushes in her mouth to get that super tiny fine point (yah don't stick me back in time making glow in the dark watches with radium paint) I wouldn't expect anything other than you had an "interesting" taste experience
-
Drinking water with paint is the reason I put my drink in a cup with a lid and a straw.
Open cups are for paint
lid and straw for drinks

I so do this .... still, I get so focused on painting I forget which end I put in my mouth to hold it while mixing/ moving ect.

This is how some people probably died of cancer.

lol ive drank so much of my paintwater over the years. first from painting DnD minis, now for customizing. ive finally learned to use a small Tupperware container to rinse my brushes in, so its nowhere near being 'drink shaped' tho once in a while I do sigh and have to go rinse out my coffee cup when I slip into autopilot and rinse my brushes off in my coffee. =P
-
We've all been there :P I long ago decided not to have a drink while painting ponies...
I still do it, though...
I nearly made a worse mistake a few months ago, though. I got some pony hair through from ebay and opened it on my desk, where I had a glass of water. I went to take a sip and just happened to glance down. Just as well I did, as there was some large, weird insect that I'd never seen before swimming in it! I'm sure it came from inside the parcel.
Needless to say he went outside and the water went down the sink
Was it good? ;)

Maybe Psocids? They often get into food (usually flour ect). I'm sure you didn't want to know that, though :P

This is the scariest story for me! The not knowing!
-
You'll be fine. Even if the paint had toxins in it, they won't kill you from one small sip. Just don't drink any more of it.
If you're still nervous, read the labels on the paint for safety warnings. Something that's dangerous will have a warning and an advisement of what to do if things go wrong :p
-
I've done a double doozy... drank from my paint water and put my brush in my drink all in the span of a few minutes, that'll teach me for putting two near identical cups right next to each other! :P
-
i havent done that but i have put my paint brush in my tea !!!xaflamex
-
Been there, done that, on multiple occasions...lol
Kayveryn
-
I've done that more times than I can count x______x
And I've also washed my brushes off in my drinks on occasion too Dx
-
I have been waiting for this to happen to me. Every time so far I catch myself right at the last second, but I know that sooner or later I won't. xD
On a related note, one of my art professors routinely licks his paintbrush to wet and rinse it when he's drawing away from a water supply (he draws with markers and uses a little teeny can of white acrylic for highlights), and he's fine. A little crazy, but there's no way to tell if THAT came from the paint or not. :P
