Rarity is SO BEAUTIFUL!!!   I really, really, REALLY hope they sell them like this, without the glitter on the outside.  They look so lovely and simple.

Well, the big gray pegasus pony appeared on Taobao a while ago with an older copyright and batch number. Someone else on the Arena told me that's because they are re-using molds.

Although, that's interesting about the bangs versions of AJ and RD.

Another thought is that they were not "planning" for the Crystal Empire specifically but experimenting with different possibilities and now have a theme to use with these ponies.

Wait, what specifically do we know about the batch numbers. How does one know if another is earlier and such. Has it been decoded?

For my ponies, my mistake. I thought the batch numbers were the same. But they were just similar. Although, some of my Taobao ponies don't even have batch numbers. Just mold numbers and copyright dates.

Anything I hear about these ponies makes me excited, even if I have heard it 100 million times XD The thing about the batch numbers and bangs are interesting though.  Could be that Hasbro originally had plans for Crystal Empire pretty early on, but when the show was so popular, then they decided to make season 3 be the focus on it since the toy line would happen anyway.
Makes me wonder what's next!

Hmmm very interesting! I really hope they somehow just got put on the backburner, and this doesn't mean these are finally showing up because they gave up on that idea. From what they showed at the fair at least, prototypes are the typical white so I don't think these were prototypes for the mane 6 at least.

No one has decoded it, but if you have been buying ponies for a while, you can easily see which ponies came out before others. The numbers on the feet have been counting up each time new products are released. I made a list once to compare waves and their numbers, and the foot numbers correlate well with the waves in which the products were released.

Way back when there were low numbers like 02631, and now with very new product we are having numbers like 21081. I have bought a lot of ponies and truly believe that this numbering system is a good way to compare when ponies were manufactured relative to each other(even though we can't pinpoint a date).

I have been buying ponies since the beginning, but until it's proven -- I refuse to believe that's exactly what those numbers represent. I think there is something else to those numbers, including the time. And having so many ponies, and so many prototypes, and comparing has led me to believe there is more than time involved with those numbers.

I don't know, I wish I would of documented the numbers when I had wave 2 bb glitter fluttershy, wave 4, and the empire one. But alas, I didn't.

Ok , so one of the things I did not sell off were massive amounts of pinkie pies with molded hair. I pulled out three random ones.
I have the numbers 02491, 03401, 03121 --- so it doesn't necessarily represent at what time these ponies were made. Because by that, my molded hair pinkie pies made in 2010, came after these random translucent rarity.

These are definitely not that kind of prototype, probably something more like doing a test run to see if translucent ponies would look good, and make a good product.

I would be interested though to see the original forms/prototypes that they used in the development and design of G4 ponies. That sounds like an interesting time at the fair.

These are beautiful! I can't wait for their release. But I'm gonna guess they aren't old prototypes, and the numbers are 'old' because rarity and fluttershy are 'old' ponies- they used the same mold for these new pearly ponies that they used for the original releases. My guess anyway.

Alright then, all of your differing theories on the foot numbers has me wanting to make graphs, so that I can present my own theories in a coherent manner and look for exceptions/ponies that don't make sense.  Sounds like a fun project for this week.

Graphy time

If it helps,

Out of 15 molded pinkie pie's I have, there are 5 numbers. About 4-5 have the three numbers I mentioned, and 2 have other numbers.

I think that more numbers that you get, from the ponies from the same time periods would be useful-- than just going off your own. :)

The Fluttershy 'old' hair could be used to just make her look more shiny.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]
