I did something stupid....(Resolved!)

I need help from someone who knows the NZ postal system but I was meant to send a parcel to someone from the USA except instead of putting ROAD for their address I (have no idea why) put LTD. What happens in this case? We went back to the postal office but they said the parcel had gone. What happens now? Will the parcel come back to me?


Any help would be appreciated.

Mmmm... I think it'd be best to give NZ Post a call? If it is a tracked item maybe they can pull it up or something, though I think the chances may be slim     It might be too late to backtrack now, but by calling NZ Post they might at least be able to give you an idea of what could be expected, like, if it would ultimately be 'returned to sender' due to an invalid address or something. Alternatively, it might be ok, and the US Postal system might recognize the mistake?

I wouldn't worry about it. I have friends who receive mail addressed to all kinds of variants of their street name. As long as the post code and state are correct, the people at the delivery center should recognise the street name and not worry about the street extension.

Worst case scenario that it will be "Returned to Sender" if it doesn't make it to the correct address.

As long as you put the zip code on there, it should be just fine.

Dont worry - like the others said - since everything else in the address was correct, they should be able to look it up and deliver it to the right place

Don't Panic!. I am a mail sorter for Nz Post. As everyone else said above.
I have sorted mail for over 5 years now and seen some pretty kooky stuff.
At least you remembered to put the address on!! I dunno how many times i have had mail or parcels and the poor person completely forgot the address. Postcards with no address from lil kids on holiday to Granny and grandad are the most heartbreaking because they usually have no way to be returned!

It's okay, New Zealand has an approximate population of 17. Haha just kidding. The system here is 'generally' pretty good, so don't stress too much just yet. My father had a letter addressed to him as Jerry Smith, West Coast, and that made it to it's destination! Keep us updated.

It can take up to 3 weeks.

If you posted on 30th March, I would think it ok to start making inquires after 16th April. I dunno about the rest of the country but here in Chch we have been crazy busy with mail this week. So many easter eggs being posted! NOT FAIR! *drools*
