MLP Nirvana / Re: MOC bluebelle/ cotton candy first run
« on: December 09, 2017, 04:33:30 PM »
Aparently a MOC bluebelle with cotton candy symbols was sold by a former hasbro employee in the indiana pony fair this summer. This means she was probably a very limited promotional first run. How exciting. I am hoping to see pictures if anyone here was the lucky buyer!

Also excited that there are more out there for us to find!!

Where did this info come from? There was no Pony Fair in Indiana this year (the last Fair in Indiana was 2013). I’ve been on the Fair staff for the last few years, and I’m certain that no mint on card Bluebelle with Cotton Candy’s symbols has ever been brought to any of the Fairs by any of the former Hasbro employees that we’ve had as guests.

I have a few exclusives from the HasCon merch package currently up on eBay. With the limited attendance of pony collectors, there is not a ton of these items in circulation in the collectors community. I'm not really into G4, so I'm hoping these can find a home with a collector that would be truly excited to have them.

I would either see if you can return for a refund (if that's an option) or sell her on as-is. There are so few known examples from this set still on the card that I'm sure someone would love to own her as she is. Decarding such as rare "mint" on card would be a real shame, in my humble opinion.

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: When do you not leave feedback?
« on: October 10, 2017, 05:41:42 AM »
As a buyer, I usually leave feedback within 24 hours of receiving the item (unless there's a problem that I need to contact the seller to resolve... in that case I'd wait to see how the transaction works out in the end).

As a seller, I leave feedback after it's left for me. If the buyer doesn't leave feedback after 30 days, I usually leave feedback for them. If there were any issues with the transaction I won't leave feedback at all since you can't leave negative or neutral for a buyer.

I also find that more than 50% of eBay buyers don't leave feedback for sellers these days. I'm not sure that anything can really be done about it... it is just the way a lot of buyers are.

Sometimes eBay does sign up sellers for the GSP without telling them, so that's also a possibility.

Yes, eBay defaults to including Global Shipping Program on sellers listings unless you specifically change your selling settings not to include it. If the seller is new or inexperienced, they may not even realize that GSP was included on their listing. The seller may not know that eBay calculates an additional cost for the buyer that gets added to the domestic shipping amount he sees on his end. It may have been a case of the seller having no idea how GSP works, rather than purposely trying to scam you.

At least it sounds like the transaction was canceled, and you can move on to purchase things with clearer shipping terms. :)

MLP Nirvana / Re: I don't know what I have but it's not a brazil box...
« on: September 20, 2017, 07:04:52 PM »
Argentina accessories are not always consistent in color or fabrics. If you have a blanket & pillow that matches pics on the wiki, that is probably a safe bet. But unless there are available pics of a Brazil blanket & pillow, it is very possible that those different pieces could just be another Argentina variant.

I think Brazil did not have all of the molds for combs & brushes, so the flower pick is most likely correctly matched with the Brazil set. Brazil Baby Gustry & Baby Lofty both had flower picks.

The Mint In Bag Cuddles - is she made in China? If so she is a UK/European issue from the 1991 product line (they got a later reissue of Cuddles' Buggy while the US got Baby Princess Sparkle). China Cuddles is not a US mail order. ;)

In your pic of the German crib set - that should be basically the same as the US crib, minus the language on the box. It looks like you may have a bagged set of Nursery accessories mixed in there, too.

Hope that helps a little bit! :)

The only thing I can think of is (correct me if I'm wrong), but I think that ebay sellers get dinged if an item takes longer to be marked "shipped" than the standard handling time. I think it may contribute to their rating and if they're store is performing above average or not.

This is probably the exact problem from the seller's end. Any seller (even without a store) will get dinged if the item is not both marked shipped & scanned in by the post office within the allotted time. Earlier this year I had 12 packages picked up from my house, but they were not scanned in by the PO until 4 days later. I received 12 defects on my account for delayed shipping for each one of those packages due to a postal worker's error. It takes a full 12 month cycle for the defects drop off your account, so if the seller is under a probation or has a Top Rated Seller status (with included fee & shipping discounts) any lengthy shipping delays can have long term effects on their account.

As some have recommended, see if the seller can ship to a friend or relative who can hold the ponies until it's safe to mail them to you.

I have a picture saved of the pre-production package layout for this set. ;) There were 4 languages on the sheet - English, German, French, and I believe the fourth was Dutch (although I could be wrong). Their English set name was the Nursery Babies with Baby Playful (Wurfelchen, blue), Baby Bye-Byes (Schlummerlein, yellow), and Baby Bubbles (Blubberschen, pink).

I love this set! It's a shame they were not more widely available. I have all 3 babies & several accessories.

It's definitely gonna make me re think buying from the states! :(

The crazy costs of postage has really put a damper on international transactions.  :cloud: I've been collecting online since the 90's & was always happy to buy, sell, & trade with anyone in any country. For the last few years, I primarily only ship within the US & Canada because shipping elsewhere isn't cost effective for most international buyers. (Not to mention receiving nasty replies from multiple would-be buyers in response to shipping quotes which has kind of put me off of even offering international shipping to anyone I don't know from the community. >_<)

I know some collectors have organized bulk shipping where all of their US purchases go to a friend in the US, then get forwarded in one large package. It's not really helpful for one-off purchases, but it definitely makes sense for collectors that are very active in purchasing & don't mind waiting a bit for their items.

There are 2 main shipping options from the US to anywhere else in the world (from usps) : First Class or Priority. We have had a lot of increases in postage costs over the last few years. First class used to be very reasonable not so long ago. Now First Class starts at about $14-15. Priority (if you are not using a flat rate package) starts in the $40+ range. The best deal for Priority is the Padded Flat Rate Envelope which can fit up 5-6 adult ponies for about $35.

First class does not guarantee the customs label will be scanned for tracking. Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not. Priority includes tracking until it leaves the US and typically to the final destination in most countries, as well as insurance for no extra charge. With PayPal and eBay typically siding with the buyer anytime there's a dispute, many sellers in the US have turned to only offering Priority for international shipping so there is some sort of reliable tracking.

Pony Corral / Re: Some Hascon exclusives revealed
« on: July 30, 2017, 07:49:53 PM »
I will be very surprised if there is no HasCon exclusive pony of some kind. ;)

With the Fair exclusives (that were shared with SDCC), they typically kept tried to keep them a secret until a couple of days before the event, at which time they would have some sort of press announcement describing them as SDCC exclusives. I'd be willing to bet that the pony exclusive (or exclusives?) isn't unveiled until a few days before HasCon.

Pony Corral / Re: The eternal question of MO collector ponies...
« on: July 30, 2017, 07:34:30 PM »
There was a set of the 6 Collectors Pose mail order ponies that was released slightly later in the line (late 80's or possibly very early 90's) in a Canadian mail order brochure. I believe they have more vivid colors & possibly some other slight differences to the standard early mail orders.

FantasticFirefly gave me a heads up on the existence of this set awhile back, but I don't own any. I'll send her a message & maybe she can chime in with more first-hand knowledge & specifics. ;)
