Beware e-bay user: burrito4891 stole MY photos in listing!
« on: September 06, 2012, 09:49:22 PM »
Should I ask the seller to take their own photos or report the listing to e-Bay?

What do I do here?

AND this is NOT the person who bought my pony, not even in the same country!

ETA: Anyone have any suggestions on water marking photos?

I personally would message them about taking them down and report it to eBay. Watermarking on eBay is super easy. When creating the listing you click on add or remove options:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Then a screen will come up asking about watermarking:

I would report it Chip.  I have had photo's stolen in the past and have emailed the person, giving them the benefit of the doubt.  And all I have gotten is snarky remarks back so I don't waste my time any more, I just report it. Ebay will look into it and remove the listing.

Here is the link to ebay's policy on image and text theft and how to report them:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html#reporting

I have actually added the link to my listings because it was happening so frequently.  And it was not just pictures, they were lifting whole text.

How annoying! sorry to hear this Chip
I agree with Ponylady - report it! These people who steal pics are not usually willing to work with you - let ebay take down their auction instead - that normally gets a better result  ;)

report them and then start watermarking your photos so there will be no doubt they are yours.

I have to agree with going straight to reporting. Many people that do this to begin with are the same people that will be jerks when you point it out.

Much of the work of posting on Ebay is taking a photo. Why oh why would anyone just think they can skip out on that part and just steal someone elses is beyond me. These aren't REAL Ebayers, just wannabes if you ask me.

I agree with the watermarking thing too.  It seems like this is the only way to go.  How in the world did you discover this?  So sorry, what a pain.  Also there is a way to disable right click on ebay photos but its html and it has to be done with turbo lister. You can find the html code by doing a search for:

Disable Right Click on Photos in the Ebay Guides. :)

I've had descriptions stolen from me. The way I found out is searching the same item I'm selling on Ebay to see what others are asking for them. Then BAM you see your photo twice or you click on a product and see that the description is stolen from you, word by word.

That's how I think many people find out.

Thanks for letting us all know!  :(  I agree with others, just move straight into reporting them! Don't even waste your time with someone who already has a disrespectful attitude!

Thanks guys!

I just look at the newly listed items every few hours and obviously if you take the picture you will know right away!

I had messaged the seller this AM and just checked back now the listing was ended and the photos removed!
