Title: GoH Nightmare Moon Warped?!
Post by: Tulips on May 01, 2018, 03:37:44 PM
Has anyone else had this happen to their GoH Nightmare Moon figure? I've had mine sitting on a shelf for barely a few months, only bought it recently, and it's warped in a way I can't explain! The tail has somehow drooped so it no longer sits level with the feet and makes the entire figure unsteady!

See how the figure is tilting and the feet aren't flat because of the end portion of the tail.

And see how if I pull her forward so the tail hangs off the shelf her feet are level and her tail is lower.

How would you suggest I fix it? Hot water and holding it in fixed position while it cools? I'm confused how it happened in the first place, the tail is glued in position on the legs, how would the end droop like this while on display on a flat surface?

Oh boi, don't tell me this kind of plastic has a very high viscosity and droops by itself with a whole lot of time ? I don't want this assumption to be true. That would be such a poor choice from the constructor. =/

I don’t have one of these, but I hope it’s simply a fluke in just a few rather  than in all of them. I’m sorry this happened, but I really hope this isn’t a thing with every one.

I hope it is just a fluke. I had her displayed on top of a box, so not exactly a solid surface but the plastic would still have had to push out by itself rather than droop over an open edge. I've only had her a couple of months, she came out of the box fine, and it's getting cooler so she's not been exposed to extreme temperatures. I'm worried about using the hot water method to re-set it, in case it makes it worse or reacts with the plastic/glue.

i have 2 words for you Tulips
"Australian Summer"

these sagging issues happen with a number of  plastics  in our climate,
the boil and  set method may fix it short term but  its probably going to get worse over time im afraid.

Oh dear, I've not noticed any other ponies suffering during the summer but I'll keep a closer eye on my other GoH. I'm in the process of taking measures to cool down my pony room before next summer. I'll try the boil and set method, and keep my fingers crossed she doesn't warp again.

I've only moved to Ipswich in the last year as well, Australian Summers are hotter than ever here lol. Thanks :)

My GoH NMM has a visible warp in her back foot. I figured most of them would have at least 1 thing wrong with them but at the time I got her she was the only one on the shelf... (kind of want to get another one of her and Celestia to custom XD)
