Title: Stuck Neck Help!
Post by: mopthebunny on November 21, 2017, 08:39:14 AM
Hello,

I bought a lot of G1 ponies from a charity shop today (hooray! :D ), but all of their necks are completely stuck in place :/

Does anyone here know how to make their necks poseable again without ruining them?

Thank you!

G1s were sold with their necks glued down, so that is actually normal for them.  :)  (There are a few exceptions like the Peek-a-Boo Baby ponies, but for the most part G1s have non-moving necks.)

However, if you want their heads to turn you may be able to make that happen simply by gripping and twisting.  It will depend on how much glue they used.  With some G1s it's very easy to get their heads to turn, with others it's like breaking into Fort Knox.  Just be careful not to tear the plastic neck plug, which is what keeps their head on.

Hi,
their neck is supposed to be impossible to move, you'd ruin them by breaking their neck and "pose them". You can see a little indent on their neck and body where they are supposed to be aligned. Don't mess with their head pose, they are supposed to be that way.  :P Some G3 have that too, but others turn. It depends on the pony. Lots of G2 have a poseable head though.

The way the neck is positioned on a lot of G1 ponies would make the rotations look freaky and off. Amusingly, some of the G3s with turnable heads are in such poses.

Now, if there's rust or a missing tail to deal with, that's another matter

Like others have said, the necks came like that :) If you pose the head other than where the dashes are aligned the switch from body go head will not be smooth. I wouldn't really mess with the neck seal unless she has internal problems like rust or mold.

Breaking the neck seal can actually devalue the pony in some collector's eyes, so I would not do it if there is no particular reason to do so, such as tail rust or mold to clean.

Ohhhhh, well that would make sense XD Thanks everyone. Excuse my G1 newbie-ness. I grew up with G2 ponies, and just assumed that that G1's would work the same way haha

It's a good thing I checked here first, though, isn't it? LOL
