Title: Hair colour matching for some G1 ponies - request for advice
Post by: Loona on October 01, 2017, 08:38:51 AM
Hi everyone!

I recently found some tailless G1s with mohawks on a flea market, and I would like to restore them. However, I haven't found them among the examples on Dollyhair, so I don't know which hair colours would match their original hair. Could someone please confirm if there is an exact match available on Dollyhair for the following ponies? If there is no exact match available, could you pease advise me on a close enough match?
I am not necessarily looking to buy from Dollyhair, if there are exact colour matches available at another hair retailer, I am also interested in those :)

Magic Wand
Gypsy (this site (https://sites.google.com/site/mlphaircolorguide/home) says Firebird, but it is an unconfirmed match)
Baby Bouncy (this site (https://sites.google.com/site/mlphaircolorguide/home) says Atomic Turquoise, is that correct?)

Thank you for your help in advance!

(ETA: even though I am looking to restore the ponies to their original looks, I just realised that this topic may belong better to the Customs section. Mods, if you feel it is better suited there, please feel free to move it. Thank you!)

I think both those colors are correct.

Thanks a lot for the reply Skeen! :)

Do you possibly know anything about Magic Wand's bright green? She was not even mentioned on that hair matching site...

Key Lime for Magic Wand, I think.

Thank you for the reply BlackCurtains! And Key Lime it is indeed - I just went to Dollyhair to check the colour and I noticed that Magic Wand is actually listed there as an exact match. I don't know how I missed that

Thank you to both of you again! Now I know what to order for my mohawk crew :frolic:

Thank you for the confirmation pkw! :)

And NightGliderSA, I definitely will. Before photo is already taken, but I'm super slow with projects like this, so the after will most likely take awhile.

What color would be a match for baby brother Sweet celebrations?

Edit to add: Sorry, just realized that this is not a hair color reference thread.

Totally not a problem NsMLPonies, feel free to hijack the thread! :) I hope someone will be able to help you.

The site I linked for my guesses above lists Tea Rose OR Pink Sugar for Baby Brother Sweet Celebrations, so they are not sure either :/

It's tricky.

I'd have said Tea Rose, but if the hair is faded then Pink Sugar would be a better match.
