Title: China Glaze is doing a MLP nail polish line
Post by: MistyMoonlight on September 16, 2017, 03:26:10 AM: Hey there, I haven't posted in ages and ages but I couldn't find any threads on this via search.

I have a job with a media company and one of my friends went to a press party held by Hasbro. He knew I'm obsessed with MLP so he texted me saying they were giving out "pony make-up kits" and asked if I'd want it. I was picturing one of those ones made for like 5-10-year-old little girls where it's like cheap fake makeup in pony containers but free is free so I said I was interested.

Turns out it's like, grown-up nail polish! And a lot of it! In a cute box! Here's what he sent me:

The box has what I think is the full line-up and they all have pony-related names. There's a convenient list of all of them on this sheet:

The tops of the bottles have the names of elements of harmony and the MLP logo on them:

I went to China Glaze's website and saw a page on the product line but no prices, so I'm not sure what they'll retail at. I put the gold on my toes and it went on really bright and smooth, so it seems like good nail polish.

(He hadn't mentioned the fashion style size Songbird Serenade, which I was really stoked to get; I've been tempted to pick her up every trip to Target since first spotting her.)

EDIT: I just realized my fav, the gold color I tested, was "Best Ponies Forever," and isn't even on the list above. Neither is "Songbird Serenade" which is the very dark metallic shade with bronzey sparkles. It matches the vest she wears.

I've bought a few of these myself- I believe they retail at Sally's or Ulta in the USA for $7.49 (but sometimes you can find them on sale) :) I love the ones I've bought so far. The full line has 14 colors, and from what I've heard the set that you have with all 14 colors was only available at special events, so it is a very cool gift ^_^ There is a set of 12 that can be purchased, without the black and gold polishes, so that may be why only 12 colors are listed on the insert. :)

Post by: Ponyfan on September 16, 2017, 06:14:10 AM: Wow! That's a great set. :) I think you can only buy the gold and black polish at certain places. There is a gift set with friendship rings that has the gold and polish and Ulta also sells them the black and gold polish individually.

I still want to get Hay Girl Hay, and I still need to try Let You Twilight Sparkle and I Just Canterlot. I have seen the Songbird Serenade set with the gold and black polishes at Sally's. JcPenneys Salon has them listed around $7 or $8, and I think Sally's actually had them a tad cheaper.
I do have to say that the creme ones I have on took more coats than I am used to using.

She showed me where they keep the nail polish and she gave me a weird look like I was looking for My Little Pony nail polish meant for kids. I couldn't remember what it was called just that it was My Little pony so that's what I asked for. I did a good look around the nail polish section and even checked up front in case they had individual bottles around there but I didn't see anything.

My local Ulta had them when I went there last month. At least at my local store, they were right with the rest of the China Glaze nail polish.

There are some China Glaze sellers on eBay though with very good prices. I was missing two and found them on eBay from US sellers for less than I paid at Sally's.

That's awesome that you got the PR set! Great display case.

Thanks for the heads up! Went to my Ulta store right when they opened and got the two colors I wanted (Songbird Serenade and Best Ponies Forever). :D
