I just bought a big bunch of ponies on ebay and when i got them home they were reeeeaaaally stinky. And moldy. I got them cleaned up really nicely, I boiled them in a bleach dilute and all the mold should be gone now. (I managed to remove loads of pindot as well so yay me!)
BUT somehow they still smell like an old basement. I figured I'd try putting them in the freezer as I've seen others get rid of bad smells that way. I've also seen some people recommending cat sand, but since I don't have a cat I don't really have any at home..
What are other good methods to get rid of bad smells from a pony?

I've seen others mention that as well!
So how would I go about it then? it's mainly the inside of the ponies that smell, should I like fill them up with baking soda and let them sit for a while? If so, I need to buy some more baking soda... ;)

I use dryer sheets - you can stuff them inside a pony and then seal her in a bag - you can get rid of most smells this way. But lots of people swear by baking soda as well!

Be careful with dryer sheets. If you stuff them inside the pony you are fine, but if you stick the pony in a baggie with the dryer sheet, it can harm the paint. I've messed up 2 ponies that way....

Yes....and it does something odd to their hair as well if left lying against them...sorry should have mentioned the "inside only"

Really? I wonder why that is? I used a dryer sheet on a G2 I had that smelled like cigarette smoke. I just draped it across her and folded it through her legs to keep it in place, so it was definitely touching her hair and probably her symbols too. She was like that for a good couple of months at least, and I didn't notice anything wrong with her afterward? Got rid of the cigarette smell too :)

I can sympathise - I bought a load of ponies on eBay a couple of years back and when they arrived they were COVERED in wee :( I kept soaking them all a washing powder solution as it breaks down bodily fluids. I would suggest baking soda too though, I've always been too scared to use dryer sheets in case I forget about them and mess the pony up...

If Baking Soda doesn't do it, Formula 911 from twin pines of Maine will! I've de-stankified so many ponies with that stuff!
With baking soda, use boiling water and then pour a bunch of of the soda into the ponies heads/bodies and into the water and let them soak for like..an hour or so. Rinse and repeat as needed. Don't do this with any so softs though, because the heat from boilign water can take their flocking off. just use warm water for them.

Can you air them out?
I had some ponies, and the baking soda didn't work for whatever reason. So I sat them out in fresh air for months.... eventually they got better.

I've heard Febreeze works as well.
However, I agree with all of the baking soda folks - it works wonders!

Ewwwwww! That's HORRIBLE! Did the seller write anything about that in the item description at least?

No, the seller said they were in 'good condition'. Some were covered in grubby marks too. They was gross!
