Hi all,
I recently acquired a less-than-perfect Seaflower with color changing hair. I've managed to smooth and brush out most of it using a good wash and condition, but the color change hair is still a bit frizzy. Any ideas?
Note: heat will sadly not work, as the hair melts easily...
I have also tried dipping her feet in hot water (carefully!!) to get her to balance and stand better, with no luck...
Thanks in advance <3

Some people have reported success with patience and a very very low heat setting on a curling iron. If you want to avoid heat altogether like you mentioned, I would just curl it to try to hide the frizz. That hair is doomed to be frizzy, it seems.
If she has problems balancing, did you leave her with her legs separated (I'm assuming that is the problem) for a while?

I actually never considered curling it, but it sounds like a beautiful solution! Thank you! <3
I've sadly noticed that a lot of the yellow, white, and color change hair is just doomed to frizz. I had that struggle with TE speedy when I restored her.
As for the legs, I tried wedging some stuff in between them and leaving it for a while to see if I could get it to go back to the way it's meant to be (I have a TE brighteyes in the same pose and it's surprising how bent up Seaflower's legs are in comparison!) but no dice. Her legs, especially the back ones, are too bent inwards.

To be honest... for these frizzy-haired friends, I use freezing-cold water to style them with conditioner, I wrap around straw/TP pinned with hairpins, and put on the shelf above the heater vent... I wait for them to dry, gently remove the straws/TP and put gently on a shelf where they don't touch anything directly. But I don't rinse the conditioner out...

I use heat. Never melted anything!

Even UV color change hair?

I second heat on wet hair, with conditioner still in. Not super hot though.

While I have never personally tried this, quite a few people have reported success in straightening colour changing hair by using low heat, small strands of hair, and plenty of conditioner. And lots of patience.

Absolutely. Iridescent tinsel too!

I'd be cautious with heat. Unless you've had loads of practice, it is risky and had the potential to do more damage than help on any type of hair. I still occasionally melt pony hair after nearly five years of practice and only using as little heat as possible.

I just got really good results on a Happy Glow who had super frizzy hair. Different to UV I know but the same principle applies.
Coat the whole hair (dry) in hand cream. Comb through and take small sections and with straighteners on a LOW heat (under 100 degrees) straighten small strands of hair, pulling it taught right to the end and through the straighteners. I have straighteners with a variable heat setting, so if you’re not sure just start on the lowest one and work your way up on a little test piece of hair from the tail. At about 150 it will melt if you aren’t careful.
If you weren’t in the USA I’d offer to do it for you, but it’s really easy!

Try a pencil or two between legs after getting her plastic very hot... gotta leave them in for awhile to reset the shape.

Does anyone know if the heat will de-activate the color-changing ability of the hair?

Its possible or it could be age. My Splosh hairstripe haven't changed colors since the late 90s and I dont remember what it changed to anymore. Its soft atleast.

This is another worry of mine -- both my current UV hair ponies change very well still, and I want to keep it that way! I think I may compromise and just curl Seaflower's hair in hopes to mitigate the frizziness.
