Oh wow it's not actually that much bigger than the carousel, I always thought it was huge. Never actually seen it assembled, just in it's box :P Thanks for posting those pictures :)

I got the bridesmaid sets, but chose to display my castle with the Grand Galloping Gala ponies so I could have all 6 and Spike at the wedding!

Well technically, if the wind were blowing, they'd both be "aimed" in the same direction, so... LOL

Thanks for the pics!  I was debating about this or the FS set.  Went with that and DD can use her inherited play sets for a castle.

I really prefer the prototype one that was made.  I love that there were actual room, and 3 levels.  The one they made just seems a bit ...cheep, more like a stage set than a playset.  There's really not that much to it.  I would get it if it goes half off, but otherwise I'm not chomping at the bit for this one.... so to speak.

Thats the exact description I was looking for on it...more like "stage" background than an actual playset...perhaps G1 and G2 [and even the ponyville playsets] have spoiled us?

When it's taken apart completely, what's the biggest piece and how big is it? I'm trying to decide if I want to get the castle and put it up for trade or just find a Shining Armor loose from someone. It's pretty much going to depend on if there's any chance I can get rid of the castle via trading without having to spend a fortune on shipping.

Looks like the biggest is either the deck or the arches.
should be perma-moderated

I don't usually collect playsets, but I want the wedding pair and this castle is awesome! XD I like that it would work well displayed on a shelf against the wall, unlike the G3 castle which has several different detailed sides to display. This is totally going on my Christmas list. XD

I got the castle today, and I have pretty mixed feelings about it...

As a collector it's okay and pretty nice to display ponies on, so it fine for me if a little cheap feeling...

If it was bought for a kid I personally think it would be a bit disappointing, as there is not much 'play value' in it... It is literally a facade with a swing ( that doesn't swing very well) and a door that opens like a drawbridge ( it folds down ) pretty silly having a window in it for a pony to fall through when she walks across it like a trap door;)

And not a huge amount of accessories and next to no furniture.

And don't get me started on those stickers... Those drapes were a nightmare to put on!

I personally would have preferred it to be a little more expensive and a bit more special!

I completely agree! I bought the set for SA and PC but I was epically disappointed with the quality. For the price I expected just a little more. It feels cheap, looks cheap, and the few accessories it comes with are super cheap as well. Oh well, my daughter still finds it fun to put all of the blind bag figs on. For those of you on the fence, I would wait for a sale ;)

Well, here's my quick and half-arsed attempt at assembling it. I completely lost it when it came to placing the stickers XD

And so, Hasbro Malaysia made me eat my words because I initially thought that it wouldn't show up in Malaysian stores at all. Now they're in complete abundance.

It seems more like a display than an actual playset, what is kinda sad.
The stair steps could be a little "taller" so the ponies there would display better.

It is also available here in Brasil (it have being for a while now), for something like US$80 >.<
