I think I'm leaning towards opening them too :3 they're too pretty to not to be looked at!

When I dig them out of storage I will upload pics of the Christmas cards :)

I agree that opening MIP items does generally decrease the value, I was just wondering about this item in particular as I've seen some of the cards individually sell for half of what I paid for the whole set MIP. I generally would never open a MIP item but these have me really stumped :S

The pony underneath the barcode is Masquerade :)

Pony Corral / MIP Opening Dilemma

Hey again!

I'm having a dilemma about opening two packs of MIP G1 cards

One is the birthday set pictured below, the other is a Christmas set not pictured.

My dilemma is that I am adverse to opening MIP G1 items, but on the other hand I'm not getting much enjoyment out of not being able to see any of them  so I am unsure what to do. What do you guys think?

Do you think their overall value will be decreased by opening them?

I was thinking that if I do open them I could sell off the spares as the artwork is beautiful and I'm sure other collectors would love the chance to own them. But I don't really want to open them if it will decrease their overall value.

Ahhh indecision!!

Thanks for your thoughts!! xx

Off Topic / ID and PC on Punzel's and random mini dolls
« on: September 05, 2012, 02:34:40 AM »
Hi guys!

I'm looking for a PC on the Punzel's pictured below, I also have the orange one in similar condition. Any help would be appreciated as the completed listings on ebay were not much help!

Update!

I'm thinking about parting with these gals too, so any suggestions of what I should charge?

Thanks again guys :)

Peruvian Glory

Very discoloured, severe haircut, very tip of horn nibbled.

Brazilian Parasol

Hair cut, few nicks to plastic, bit sticky.

Greek Peachy

Symbols very faded, marks here and there.

NC Peachy

Hair faded and slightly dry at the ends.

Dutch Sing-a-long

Hair re-pinked and quite dry, few small pen marks.

************************************************

So I've decided to downsize my collection somewhat and these gals didn't make the cut  ;)

As you can see most of them are not in the greatest condition but hopefully some unfussy collectors will take them under their wing.

Prices in £s from UK collectors would be appreciated, $s are fine too though :)

Thanks for your help!

German Raindrop (large symbol)

Tail cut, some regrind, rubs to symbol.

Baby Schlummerlein

One eye rub, left ear nibbled, ends of hair dry.

Beautiful condition, no major flaws

Macau Jenny

Very very sad pony :( Both ears badly damaged, tail cut, some pen marks.

French Bubbles

Mane cut, some grazes to symbols.

Spanish Baby Bowtie (NC version)

Hair cut, tail rust, hair very dry.

Argie Sprinkles

Now I'm the least sure about letting this girl go, but I might do for the right price. She's in gorgeous condition, her only flaw is a small amount of red pen on her right shoulder. Rel's website price checked her at around $300, is this still correct?

I'll probably be parting with a few more (Peruvian Glory, Brazilian Parasol etc) just need to make up my mind!! Thanks for everyone's help :)

xx

Trader & Shipping Support / Re: Bad Practice on Ebay

Wow that's really disappointing that a collector on the arena would use such underhanded tactics to get what they want, some people really have no morals. Taking advantage of an uneducated seller by lying about it being for a child's birthday?? Disgraceful. :/ Another ebay ID to add to the blocked bidder list, I refuse to deal with any collector that partakes in this practice.

I'm so glad the seller listened to you Napper :) you definitely did the right thing.

So..is the practice of asking for BIN's now condoned?

Personally I will never condone it, but it seems as though the community as a whole have become far more accepting.

Yeah I searched completed listings but couldn't see it, thanks for the link Chi :) it's fine to post ended links just not active ones.

She's so pretty! I have her in her German box but with the English writing is even more awesome!

Yeah does anyone have an ended auction link? I spent hours on ebay last night trying to track down the auction but couldn't find it anywhere.

MIB Nestie babies are one of my biggest grails, soo cute with all their accessories <3

Pony Corral / Re: Have you ever unboxed a MIB G1 pony.... :O
« on: January 21, 2012, 01:23:25 PM »
Never have (except when they were still new, of course...although I saved some of the packaging even then), and never will, unless there's something wrong with the packaging or pony. I much prefer loose ponies and totally understand the good feeling of opening one for the first time, but there's only a limited number of them, and I feel like if I contribute to the number that are opened, there eventually won't be any more, even if that is a long time from now. It doesn't really seem fair for me to get a brief moment of excitement about something by making it cease to exist when I know there are plenty of people who would love it the way it is. For me personally, I guess the whole point of collecting is to preserve the things I like, not just to own them...sometimes, outside of my childhood collection, I don't even really feel like I own them, just taking care of them for the next person. Which I'm fine with. It certainly made selling the MOC ones I had pretty painless.

Beautifully put :) I completely agree with you, I definitely see collecting as a process of preservation. I love my ponies to bits, but one day (probably when I'm a little old lady!) I'll be able to pass them on to someone else who will really appreciate them. I have a couple of MOC/MIBs in my collection that are very very rare, I don't feel it would be right to open them when I would most likely be denying other collectors the chance to ever own those ponies MIB. And tbh I don't really understand the opening of less rare G1s either, there are so many mint loose ones around it just seems a shame to make one less MOC in the world.

Her symbol looks like G2 Eve's. She's really cute but I'm betting she's probably a custom ;)

The first set all came with puffy stickers.

I'm pretty certain all the flutters in the second set came with stickers too although I have only seen Tropical Breeze and Wind Drifter's, never the other two. They are crazily hard to find!!
