Similar thing here, once the Arena works good and fast and then,10 minutes later it shows me an error message out of nowhere.
It's actually good, because it's known that it's not because of the computers-I was thinking it's its fault in the beggining   :dumbpc: it happens all the time, usually in the evening   :(

I bet 99 percent of you who are having trouble with long page load times on the arena are running internet explorer, the arena was pretty much unusable for me when i was running internet explorer, get google chrome and your problems will be solved! as for the smf and server error messages, those are a different matter

Actually, I'm running Firefox, and it has massive problems here too. I've tried it on Chrome a couple of times, but at that point in the day, it lags on Chrome too.

I only use chrome, and at random points in the day I can't connect.
looking into a re-branding.

... not really ... i tried IE, i tried firefox, i tried chrome, etc etc i tried different machines, different updates, different versions etc etc ... same problems ...

and it's only the arena ... i have two other boards that are WAY BIGGER, WAY BUSIER, WAY MORE IMAGE HEAVY ... and nothing ... no problem at all what so ever any time of day or night ... so it's NOT my machine, NOT ie, etc etc ...

ETA: was also going to ask ... i have been at more than a handful of boards where the number and amounts of PM's that members haven't deleted added up to soooooooo much data that it would bog down/crash the boards ... i know it's been asked here before about "how PM's can we save" ... are the sheer amounts of PMs that users have an issue? some users at my other boards had like several THOUSAND pms ... and once several members in similar PM ways cleared out their messages ... things improved DRASTICALLY ... i know ther are a LOT of members here and PMs are flying left right and center ... and a lot of people don't clear em out ... possibility?

I was just searching the support forum to see if others were having this problem. Most of the time my problems come up in the middle of the night, and I use chrome so its not IE hating me.

Well I use Chrome, and I've had these kinds of connection problems with the Arena since it moved. A lot of the time it's so bad I'll just give up and try another day.

Personally I can't think that it's a specific time of day I'm having problems.

Checking to see if others have had problems and adding my experiences.

It's down for me sporadically during the week and during peak times.

From what I've read it's browser independent.

Possible causes of the problem:
- Too many people accessing the Arena at the same time.
- Provider problems either at the sending end (Arena) or at the receiver end (Member)

Sometimes I get general Internet problems during the week between 5-8pm local time. After people get home from work or after dinner.

I read somewhere that most people now use the Internet for streaming videos so that's really tough on Internet providers to keep up bandwidth!

Adding: I use Safari to access the Arena.

Interesting! I have tons of PMs. If others have tons of PMs this is a very real possibility!

I've been wondering for awhile now if members could prune their PMs to see if that helps. I could stand to do it myself. It's probably just a band-aid when surgery is required, but it's something anyway.

Will do!

Edit:down to 3-4 peg of each.

Do you think if we set a weight limit on normal photos that would help? I've often wondered if it is partially due to trying to handle all of our pic, even if we scale them down for boards size the actual file is still pretty hefty.

I actually think it is getting worse-

It used to be no-connection around 12:30 for a while-

but now it down some times- and very very slow for longer and longer periods of time- doesn't matter if I use Chrome or IE

What exactly is "pruning"? I have been wondering what it is but I don't want do have something happen and lose a bunch of PMs I need. What is a "high" amount of PMs considered anyway?

Okay, I took my 20-ish pages of PMs and cut it down to 2-3. If every little bit helps, then here is my little bit! :)
