XP is so obselete as an OS that Microsoft stopped supporting it years ago.  PCs running XP have a hard time even browsing the 'net these days!

The majority of computers at my office still use it which is scary because we deal in health insurance so that is information that cannot be leaked. :/

However, trying to get the owners to spend money to upgrade the computers is damn near impossible. We don't even have an IT department!

Y'alls should probably upgrade. XP only supports up to 4 GB of ram, and with the new wave of consoles most likely coming out soon that's going to start to be an issue.

My husband's desktop (and our main computer) still runs on XP. We use it for internet browsing and such (I'm using it right now) and it's still trucking along just fine. *shrugs* We're planning on getting a new tower in another year or so, but unless something happens to our current system before then, I really don't see much point.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to check it out. :)

Thanks for the post - I don't use IE ever, I avoid it like the plague, but I still use XP on my laptop since my main more modern computer died.

Is the link right because the topic says this is about Windows XP but the article talks about Internet Explorer?

Thanks for the info.  I'm on Vista on this laptop and I use Chrome, but 90% of the time I'm actually browsing on Safari for IOS (since 90% of the time nowadays I'm on my iPad.)

My former college only upgraded to 7 like a year ago, before that we were still running XP on all the computers.
That and I've noticed a lot of shops use XP based stuff for their business.

You're reading it right. Basically the highest version of IE Windows XP users can get is IE 8. IE 6,7,and 8 have a breach where your identity gets stolen.

That's why I said "Windows XP" because if you have it, chances are you have the highest version of IE. If you are IE 9 or higher (with Windows Vista, 7, and 8), then you're fine.

Can it be avoided by using a non-Microsoft browser like Firefox or Chrome? I use Firefox instead of IE and it's a much safer browser, even in the earlier builds.

Depends. I just updated it anyway...sometimes my programs want to open IE instead of firefox>_> plus the game I play called NEStalgia uses IE
